Guinness Arthur's Day 2012 @ Beer Factory Sunway Giza

A couple of weeks back, I was at the media launch (Guinness Arthur's Day 2012 Media Launch) and there I was again last night at Guinness Arthur's Day 2012 over at Beer Factory in Sunway Giza. Gathering thousands of fans at 3 unique music events simultaneously across Klang Valley, this year's Arthur's Day celebrations were truly special.

This year's Guinness Arthur's Day was unique in a sense that three venues were used for the celebrations. Thousands of fans gathered at the Beer Factory, Sunway Giza, Laundry Bar at The Curve, and SOULedOut at Sri Hatramas to raise a pint to the founder of the favourite black brew, Arthur Guinness.

The celebration, themed 'A Celebration Made of More' gave Guinness fans the opportunity to choose their own Arthur's Day experience. The celebrations featured Hong Kong superstar Justin Lo and a host of leading regional and local act such as River Maya, Reshmonu, Will Ng, Kyoto Protocol and Jacklyn Victor, spanning the 3 music venues. I was the the venue where Justin Lo was to perform, the Beer Factory in Sunway Giza.

Arriving at Sunway Giza after a long day at work, it was indeed a refreshing feeling to just have a wonderful night out with non-stop flow of Guinness. It was also a good thing that I caught up with fellow bloggers and friends that night. Oh, food was provided too, finger food to be exact, but taken in large amounts did fill up our stomachs all ready for Guinness.

Arthur's Day was not just another music party as Guinness also unveiled the Arthur Guinness Fund here in Malaysia. Globally, The Arthur Guinness Fund was set up to further the philanthropic legacy of Arthur Guinness and support social entrepreneurs around the world. More than 7.3million pounds have been given to deserving social entrepreneurs around the world-people who have a head for business and a heart for the community.

In Malaysia alone, more than RM200k will be channeled to the program which aims to support local Malaysian social entrepreneurs with the passion for the Malaysian community to deliver measurable, transformational change in the local community.

Anyway, I actually missed snapping photos of the other wonderful acts that night, namely Rhythm Nation, Once Upon a Time There Was a Sausage Named Bob, and a few others before the main act of the night where everybody was looking forward to. Justin Lo from Hong Kong was slotted for the 11.20pm slot to perform to all his adoring fans that night.

Justin Lo, who performed that night, had this to say about his Arthur's Day experience: "I am delighted to have been invited to be part of this global celebration. This has truly been a pleasurable and exciting experience for me". Now, personally I'm notwell versed with Chinese music, but when Justin Lo belted out his hits to the crowd, I was really excited as I actually heard his songs so any times before, and enjoyed it truly.

It was a really good night, and to enjoy all the Guinness goodness on a Friday night was just what I needed. Good times indeed, and here's celebrating the success of Guinness Arthur's Day 2012 with everyone else around the world.

Arthur's Day is celebrated around the world to honour the date that Arthur Guinness signed a 9000 year lease on the St James Gate Brewery in 1759, and whose legacy has brought us the globally celebrated and iconic black brew, Guinness. Globally, Arthur's Day is celebrated in over 40 countries around the world.
