On The Table Solaris Dutamas

On The Table is this rather classy yet cozy restaurant located in Solaris Dutamas serving fusion food ranging from western food to the local favourite nasi goreng. I was intrigued with the name of the eatery, it had a unique ring to it. The restaurant opened its doors back in 2010, with Corporate Chef Riz, son of celebrity chef, Chef Wan leading the culinary team.

The comfortable interior of On The Table

Reaching the restaurant at around 7pm plus, the restaurant itself was not that hard to locate. Upon entering its doors, we were greeted by the senior manager, who will be serving us with their upcoming Ramadhan promotion set meals. In total, On The Table will be coming up with 2 set meals, one priced at RM19.90, and the other priced at RM29.90 with a choice of Starter, Appetizers, Main Course, Desserts and drinks.

Set Menu 1 (RM19.90)
Starter: Dates ,Spring rolls and Keropok
Appetizer: Kerabu Mango Or Pumpkin Soup
Main Course: Nasi Goreng Kerabu Or Spaghetti Olio Or Grilled Chicken
Dessert: Dessert Platter
Drinks: Sirap Bandung

Set Menu 2 (RM29.90)
Starter: Dates ,Spring rolls and Keropok
Appetizer: Caesar Salad Or Tom Yam Soup
Main Course: Nasi Goreng Mama Yati Or Spaghetti Marinara Or Mushroom Melt Burger
Dessert: Dessert Platter
Drinks: Sirap Bandung

#1 The Starter (Dates, Spring Rolls and Keropok), available in both set meals
#2 Kerabu Mango

We kicked off the meal with the starters and food from set meal #1 which consisted of Dates, Spring Rolls and Keropok. It was not exceptionally special, but will do just fine during Ramadhan for breaking fast. The spring rolls were adequately crispy, which went well with the chilli sauce. Next was the appetizer which came in the form of Mango Kerabu. Again, nothing to shout about, done just the way it should be done.

#3 Appetizer from set meal 2 the Caesar Salad

Having had some really good Caesar Salad at other eateries, which was one of my favourite salad dishes, I was not disappointed with the ones served here at On The Table.  It had all the usual ingredients we have come to expect from the dish, even though it could do with more of those meaty bits.

#4 Tom Yam

If however you're not a fan of the Caesar Salad, you can always opt for the Tom Yam instead which comes as an appetizer choice in Set Meal 2. I found the tom yam a tad too spicy, overwhelming the taste. On The Table did not skimp on the ingredients though, which was a good thing.

#5 Nasi Goreng Kerabu
#6 Nasi Goreng Mama Yati

If having kerabu is your thing, then you'll love the Nasi Goreng Kerabu, as we see these leaves with spices being stir fried with fragrant rice served with spiced fried chicken. I felt the taste went well together, and served hot, it was a good main course. The Nasi Goreng Mama Yati was a choice from set meal #2, and came with these huge prawns. However, the prawns weren't as fresh as I would like it to be, which was a minor letdown considering the fried rice was really nice.

#7 Spaghetti Olio
#8 Grilled Chicken on a bed of fries

It was a choice of either the Nasi Goreng Kerabu, Spaghetti Olio or the Grilled Chicken for set meal 1. The creamy Spaghetti Olio came with lots of mushrooms, and was well prepared. I liked that dish, but definately not as much as the next Grilled Chicken dish. The Grilled Chicken was a whole piece of chicken thigh and was really tender, cooked without being too hard. Doused with mushroom sauce and served with fries, this was one dish I could not get enough of.

#9 Mushroom Melt Burger

As the saying goes, save the best for last, so when the Mushroom Melt Burger arrived I was pretty pleased with the dish. The burger came with this huge patty of beef, with lettuce, cheese and mushroom sauce, nothing beats this to whet up an appetite. It was really filling to say the least. Overall, it was a good meal, one which was value for money as it came together with these set meals. Do check out On The Table should you be in the vicinity of Solaris Dutamas.
