Hard Rock Hotel Penang
Hard Rock Hotel Penang, one of the more luxurious rock themed hotel located along the beaches of Batu Ferringhi Penang was my choice of accommodation end of last year. It was to be a quiet getaway with Janice for my birthday as well as to celebrate the end of 2011. I did not plan it well ahead, in fact it was more of a last minute plan to crash in at Hard Rock Hotel due to the unavailability of Pulau Jerejak's hotel which was our initial plan.

Some of the rockstar memorabilia at Hard Rock Hotel Penang |
This hip and trendy resort in Penang is suitable for families, couples and singles for their relaxing accommodation in Penang. With a total of 250 rooms available, with Wi-Fi connections, iPod docking stations and 32-inch LCD screen TVs, the rooms were pretty good, one of a kind, the rock star kind.We reached the hotel just after our lunch, in time to check-in after a quick registration at their front desk.

Our Seaview Deluxe room in Hard Rock Hotel Penang |
"Break away from yet another classic seaview room and check out our sexy design, where style meets substance. Features an opened or closed bathroom wall, you will love the vibe. Enjoy a full range of modern amenities in the rooms. Sleep like a Rock and rise in the morning to an unprecedented view of the sea and the largest free-form swimming pool in Penang."

Another view from our room |
That was the brief description of the seaview deluxe room which I obtained from Hard Rock Hotel Penang's website, and I must say, it did summarize exactly what the room was like. It was really big and comfortable, with a modern feel to it especially with the 32 inch LCD TV and hi-fi set, we just had to switch on the music in the room. Check out the short video I took of our room below.
The walls in the Hard Rock Hotel Penang were adorned with images, memorabilia and icons reflecting the revolution that changed the face of music, fashion and arts. It's a celebration of popular culture from the 50's through the new millennium. Its fun atmosphere and clean, modern lines make Hard Rock Hotel really unique in a good way.

The free-form pool of Hard Rock Hotel Penang |
Another unique thing about this hotel would be its free-form pool, located just beyond the hotel's lobby. For those staying in the Lagoon Deluxe rooms, they could actually just open their sliding door and jump straight into the pool, which was really cool. I personally had fun just swimming around enjoying the view and the cool waters.
"Featuring the largest free-form pool in Northern Malaysia, which is effortlessly integrated into the Hotel's landscaping. There is always something going on at the poolside where our Rock Agents will keep you entertained or you can simply enjoy the music and drinks served at the swim up bar. It is also fun to try the water slides or reserve a private cabana."
Hard Rock Cafe Penang was just next door |
This round however, I did not have the urge to dine over at the Hard Rock Hotel even though it was really tempting. Instead, Janice and I decided to have a stroll down the beach at night, and crashed at one of the "makan" spots along Batu Ferringhi for a nice relaxing dinner. Probably the next time I'm down here, I would check out what they have inside the Hard Rock Cafe.
"This world famous cafe serves authentic American cuisine made famous by Hard Rock Cafe’s across the globe. The 130 pax cafe serves authentic American food with specialty dishes such as Nachos, Fajita’s, Legendary 10oz Burgers, Honey Citrus Chicken Salad and Hard Rock Cafe Hot Fudge Brownie and special Cocktails such as Hard Rock Hurricanes, Tropical Rock, Triple Platinum Margarita, Fruitapalooza & Berry Blush Martini comes with a Special Collectable Souvenir Glass (Special Prices with Glass)."

Hard Rock Hotel Penang at night |
Janice and I just chilling at the hotel's lounge listening to some live band that night |
It was a perfect night out with Janice as we truly enjoyed every moment there. Having her with me to celebrate another milestone in my life was another plus. It was made even better when my dad came up to "check" on us in the afternoon. I love my dad, and to enjoy the Hard Rock Hotel experience with him there was great.

Our following morning breakfast before checking out in the afternoon |
Overall it was a memorable stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. True to it's rock theme, do come over this hotel if you want a unique rock star experience. Of course, it was pretty pricey and personally, I would have chosen Rasa Sayang Hotel or Golden Sands Resort Penang if they were not fully booked that week. Nevertheless, no regrets, as I can safely tell people, yes I've stayed over at Hard Rock Hotel Penang, and it was a rocking good night!
Wow...a nice play to stay indeed. :D
