Behind 50 Penang
The other night, a few days before my big day when I was back in Penang, a couple of my friends called me out to this new chillout joint located at love lane Penang. The name of the cafe is aptly called Behind 50 Cafe due to it's location behind this building "50". This cool looking cafe has an old school feel to it, and really reminded me of the cafes you will normally see along Jonker Street in Malacca. It's rather unique in Penang as not many places have these concept cafe yet.

The moment I entered Behind 50, I was greeted warmly by the cafe's owners. A quick chat with them and I learnt that this cafe was the brainchild of 3 friends, and together they took turns to man as well as upkeep the cafe. Pretty awesome idea and execution if you ask me, as the crowd that night shows proof that Behind 50 is really a popular chillout place at night.

The decor of Behind 50 Cafe consists of items and stuffs from the 60's to the 80's, complete with the old radio sounds, an old school record player, an old typewriter, event some toy figurines we used to play before the internet boom. The whole place radiates off a comfortable ambience, one that anyone would appreciate should they find themselves wanting a place to relax and unwind.

Being there with my friends, sharing a bucket of beer while catching up with old times was a priceless experience for me. Coupled with the fact that the owners were so friendly and even brought out some titbits (bought from Hatyai) to share with us. Good times indeed.
I found the menu really interesting as it comes "inside" a book! Not just any book, a classic book I used to read when I was a kid. |

A quick glance over the menu, and I found out Behind 50's food prices were quite affordable and wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket. We did manage to catch a few photos before slacking the night away with beers and laughter.
