Langkawi Sunshine Restaurant
Fresh from my trip to Langkawi over the weekend, tonight I'll be sharing on this quaint chinese corner "coffeeshop" restaurant over in the town of Kuah. While doing our shopping at the duty free shops nearby, we walked over the road to have lunch. The restaurant's name is Langkawi Sunshine Restaurant, but usually when we're at these type of restaurants, the name doesn't stick, but the brain will remember the food.

Again, there were only 2 of us that day, my partner and I, so we only ordered two main dish to go with our rice. If it was up to me, I would have ordered much more, but who will finish it right? The restaurant had simple decor, nothing elaborate just your average coffee shop type. It feels comfortable though, and rather clean. Check out the dishes I ordered below.
The rather worn out menu |
#1 Chinese Herbal Tea - RM1.50 |
#2 Hainanese Steamed Chicken - RM 18 |

The serving was rather large for 2 persons, I tried to order a smaller serving, but the waiter mentioned this was the smallest serving they had. If I'm not mistaken, it was half a chicken. The taste was superb though. I'm always in love with these type of "white" chicken, the chicken flesh always comes out being really smooth and added with the soy sauce, it is rather tasty.
#3 Sambal Kangkung - RM 10 |
#3 Sambal Kangkung - RM 10
My partner ordered this. We need to make sure there's vegetables in all our meals, for a healthier body. I have no complaints on this dish, which is a good sign. The sambal was just nice. Nothing extraordinary about the taste though, just your average sambal kangkung .
Overall, a rather satisfying meal, affordable too. But there are so many other affordable food spots in Langkawi. Come here for the no frills back to basics delicious chinese dishes. It's located smack in the middle of the duty free shops in Kuah Town, Langkawi, so be sure to drop by this restaurant should you feel hungry after a whole lot of shopping!

ReplyDeleteHey! I've steamed chicken in my post today....but mine's cheaper. LOL!!! The kangkong does not look too good... Haven't been to Langkawi for a long long time. Not among my favourite destinations...
ReplyDeleteEllo you go to the farm high up in Genting you had fish but when you are in the island you had chicken like that boh simid tiok lah hahaha just kidding. It is always more pricy to order a plate of chicken for two and all the time wasted as cannot finish. We normally order two chicken rice, one for the breast the other for the wings and we 'trade' total cost RM9.00. Sometimes we cant even finish the chicken.
ReplyDeleteThe steamed chicken look delicious. But the sambal kangkung is a bit oily.
ReplyDeletei have to agree with the rest, the chicken looks good but the kangkung is oily... healthy but too oily though...

ReplyDeleteSTP, I saw your post! Haha. what a coincident. Langkawi is rather boring, with nothing much to play. So unless you're into beach and water sports, my suggestion to anybody would be to give it a skip, or like me, go for only 2 days. :)
ReplyDeleteBananaz, Hahaha! I'm cute that way.. the next thing you know I will be having BBQ in a hotel room :P .. Good tip on the chicken. But Isaac is a big eater.. you should see my tummy! Haha, think I got to cut down on the chicken though

ReplyDeleteAgnes, it's really a good place to unwind. There's not much attractions except for some historical spots. Other than that just enjoy the beach and laze around. :)
