La Manila Cafe Midvalley Megamall

Last week, before catching the premiere of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides , my partner and I decided to drop by this cafe located on the same floor as the cinema at Midvalley Megamall. I heard the cafe was famous for its cakes, but I did not order any that day. Probably will try the cakes the next time around.

La Manila Cafe had a pretty decent ambiance to it, with a white theme. The cafe comes off as being rather clean. We proceeded to place our order with the waitress there. I was not too pleased with their service as they were not very courteous, orders were taken without even so much as a smile being given. Whatever happened to pleasing the customer?

The menu
#1 Herbal Mee Soup with Chicken (Came with free cincau drink) - RM9
Complimentary Cincau drink
#2 Fish and Chips - RM13

The herbal mee tasted quite good, and came in a rather large serving. According to my partner who had this, she was really pleased with the whole chicken thigh being served in the soup. In fact, I had the chance to savour a big portion of the thigh because she could not finish it.

#2 Fish and Chips - RM13

As for the fish and chips, I was rather disappointed with the size of the serving. The fish looked rather pathetic and small. Even the fries were so little. For a price of Rm13 I would have expected a dish which could fill me up, not some appetizer sized dish. Anyway, there was nothing to shout about with the taste, your average run of the mill fish and chips.

So was my meal here any good? I wouldn't say it's the best, but for a first timer here to this cafe I wasn't very impressed with the quality of their service. Probably because La Manila has already established itself in Midvalley for so many years already. I would come back again next time just for the cakes though.

  1.  Pengsan! But I like the "only"...and the "plus" after that. So contradictory! Yup! The fish fillet so small...for that price.
