Last Sunday was a busy day indeed. I was at
PC Fair with my colleagues in the morning till afternoon before meeting up with an ex schoolmate at
Dome Cafe KLCC for a short catch up session. In the evening however, it was time well spent with my dear partner in Sungai Wang Plaza. She wanted to get some shoes, and we managed to find a very nice pair.

Old Town White Coffee Sungai Wang Plaza |
Old Town White Coffee is no stranger to most people, and I'm sure you've gone there to dine a few times already. Anyway, it was my first time at this outlet in Sungai Wang Plaza, and since it was dinner time, we decided to grab a bite here. The neon signage reads Old Town White Coffee Signature. I'm not sure what does the signature word stands for but the decor, tables and chairs had your standard Old Town franchise look.

The classic menu |
Usually I would order their signature dish which was the Nasi Lemak, but that night I wanted to try something different and went for the curry chicken with rice instead. I was slightly dissapointed though, because the curry seemed to have been diluted. It was as if they added in water to compensate for the lack of curry. The chicken was okay, not great but okay.

Curry chicken with rice - RM 9 |

The rice that came with the curry chicken |
My partner ordered the Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun, she has always preferred noodles or soupy dishes over rice. We tried before the Hor Fun at other Old Town franchise, but the one that was served that night surprised us. The amount of oil on top of the soup was so thick it felt like I was looking at a layered cake. Naturally my partner scooped out all the oil before eating her meal. It wasn't very fun.

Ipoh Hor Fun - RM 6 |

Our Soya Drink - RM3 |
We weren't too bothered with the quality of the food served that night because we were in a rush to buy her shoes. The time was already 8.30pm when we finished eating. However, I might say that for my first time eating at this Old Town outlet in Sungai Wang, I'm definately not impressed with the quality of the food served.
=.=...showing these delicious stuff in the middle of the night is cruel !
ReplyDeleteYo brother! i love old town food. I prefer special curry mee and special nasi lemak. My mom always warned me not to eat cos my weight is over the moon lol! Btw I also posted on Oldtown White Coffee but setapak branch lol. http://crazywrazy.blogspot.com/2011/03/popeyes-louisiana-kitchen-and-old-town.html
ReplyDeleteI'm never a fan of Old Town food = nice but not great and of course, expensive. I like the decor of this one though - never knew they have one at Sg Wang. I know there's one at Low Yat.
ReplyDeleteI like the how O-Town is decorated. It is nothing like the one we have in Singapore which in my opinion is too modernized. They do have cheap and pretty decent tasting food too.
ReplyDeleteI have taken chicken koay teow in Pappa Rich, not that nice.. maybe old town one is better.. or perhaps road side stalls are much much better.. yeah, in Ipoh, koay teow can be easily accessible in many parts of the town.. :)
ReplyDeleteold town's food getting suckier with the price increased... not impressed with it anymore
ReplyDeleteI am Hainam Kopitiam Fans! HAHAHAH! Old Town Hor Fun not bad but need to be fresh la XD
ReplyDeleteThe branch near my place is quite bad too. Actually I never really liked Old Town haha
ReplyDeleteI usually go for curry mee if I'm eating at old town cause their other food is not that nice ):
ReplyDeleteinitially, the food was nice..now the portion has become smaller!
ReplyDeleteHello bro!
ReplyDeletepass from my blog, still remember? u make me hungry with
delicious curry.. yummy!
Don't worry. - that oil is from the chicken itself. Completely natural. :) Yeah prices are going up, not surprised though I mean, looking at the economy and all. Bound to happen.
ReplyDeleteLam, that's the point! To make your stomach growl. Hahaha, a bit evil :P
ReplyDeleteCW, Old Town is nice, but don't make it a habit, on top of the expensive food price, it's really fattening. Hahaha, let's go take some oats instead. XD
ReplyDeleteSTP, me neither, I took the nasi lemak from Old Town too many times already till I'm kind of scared of the nasi lemak there. They made the decor at this sg wang branch to mimic an attap kampung house. :)
ReplyDeleteDarran, Thanks for dropping by dude! this Old Town is somewhat more elaborated than the other old towns in KL, probably because it has an added "Signature" to its name.
ReplyDeleteits called O-Town in Singapore?
Claire, I think Pappa Rich prices are more expensive no? I concur that road side stalls are the best !! :)
ReplyDeleteHenry, True!! Expensive.. and not that great. Intro me some kl good food bro, and lets makan together!
ReplyDeleteKian Fai, yup, i suspect the one I had the other night wasn't fresh because it was already near to closing time for the shop
ReplyDeleteTony! Wahaha toninkush <-- glamour name.
ReplyDeleteOld town has actually gone from "boleh tahan" to "tak tahan".
Hilda, yup the curry mee still tastes good because it has a lot of "lemak" in it, as in the curry is still thick and they serve generous portions
ReplyDeleteWenn, true. The nasi lemak nowadays have like 1 pc of really small chicken, and a whole lot of rice.
ReplyDeleteShah, thanks for dropping by my blog bro! Care to drop down your blog url here again? Then I can visit by more often.
ReplyDeleteClarisse, Thanks for dropping by my blog. Much appreciated and favour returned.
ReplyDeleteThe oil, my partner actually took great pains to scoop all of it out. Why can't my salary increase in tandem with the food price increases. Oh the unfairness of it all!
