Dentist Visit Yong Dental Surgery

For the past 1 week, my wisdom tooth gums have been giving me hell. It started on Monday 3rd January. Initially I thought Bonjela could bring down the swelling, but it did not work in my case. Instead, I woke up this morning with gums that swelled until it covered my wisdom tooth, making me unable to clamp down my teeth without biting on my swollen gums.

It was then I decided, enough of postponing the trip to the dentist, and let's get it over with today. Set my GPS to the nearest dentist (I haven't gone to a dentist in 3 years so I do not know which dentist was good around my area), and I was on my way. The GPS device found Yong Dental Surgery at Jalan Pahang.

Before I decided to go for this dentist, I gave them a call and was glad to find out no appointment needed, just walk-in. Upon reaching the clinic, I was promptly requested to register myself and ushered in to meet Mr Dentist. The clinic itself looked pretty decent, your average dental clinic with no frills.

I was then requested to sit on the chair while the dentist checked my inflamed gums. He gave me a mirror so I am able to observe my gums and tooth while he explained my predicament. A few knocks on my wisdom tooth and the dentist confirmed the tooth was not spoilt. My swollen gums were attributed to food getting lodged in between the walls of the gum and my tooth causing the area to be infected. The metal equipment that he used were pretty sharp and pointed. While he prodded around my gums, it actually punctured the skin and caused it to bleed.

Cutting to the chase, Mr Dentist gave me some antibiotics and painkillers for my swelling, and gave a piece of advice. Use warm water to bath the tooth and the swollen gums, until the gums are "ripe". The logic to this was to get rid of the pus inside the affected area.

I was charged RM40 for the consultation, antibiotics and painkillers. No wonder dentists makes a killing over their patients.
