Gold Investment - Maybank Gold Savings Account Top Up

The last time I wrote on this gold investment was last year, 22nd dec to be exact. Link attached.

Back then, gold was shooting upwards, but recently, during the past one week to be exact, gold prices has been going down. And today, it reached the point where my initial investment was at. Today's Maybank Gold Account rates were at 137.97/gm. Back when I first opened the account on 1st Nov 2010, it was at 137.67/gm.

Have a look at the graph below on the trend of Maybank Gold Account price which I have been tracking since 1st November 2010.

This afternoon, since I was at KLCC during my lunch break, I took the chance to top up slightly. The Friday crowd was huge, and the queue was rather long but still manageable.

Is now the right time to jump in and buy more gold? I'm not certain, but what I know is that the prices have not come down to this number for quite a while. Anyway, I'm still monitoring daily on the trend of our dear Maybank Gold Account rates.

Slightly off topic here, would just like to note, my queue number was 4066, and I was served at counter 6. Just an observation, maybe 6 is my lucky number for today.

  8. Pretty high to go in now... How much did you buy? My friend in BizFm told me around May 2009 to go for gold...but I did not bother. Could have made quite a bundle by now...

  10. @ suituapui: :)My guess is it will go higher in the future, anyway gold isn't like stocks. It's for long term, and at the rate it's increasing, anytime seems like a good buy.

Anyway I just got the minimum :P 5gm each top up :P Wanna see how's the trend in the near future.

@ kell: Thanks man! Yup, let's monitor it more.

  15. Today (5/9/2011) MBB gold buying price is RM176.68 and this is more than 50% appreciation since January! I purchased in late June at less than RM150 and is making more tha 18% in less than 2 months!

BUT like other shares you are not making anything unless you sell it!

    Cheers!

  16. I'll probably consider investing there. I still don't know what to expect, but all I know is that it can help me in a lot of ways.
