We all know physical health is important, as well as our mental health. But did you know the flow of chi in our body is of paramount importance as well? I was at The Violet Flame, Bangsar recently to attend a Chi Class by the awesome teacher Mirjana Malignon, and it was an eye opening experience indeed. Check out some of the things I learnt that afternoon.

Chi Flow and How to make your Chi flow the best way possible


During the class we were taught on chi flow, how not to create blockages. If we are easily angry, over time it will create a certain blockages in our body. How we live our lives is important, as well as the chi state , to maintain a balance and prevent overcharging or under. Interesting stuff!

By doing a certain movement and breathing, it will smooth out the flow of chi. How chi classes come about is because we are always busy, and definitively need best practises without spending too many hours. Shortest possible time for biggest possible benefits, that's the idea in mind.

Understand how our mind influences our chi


We have to detoxify our body , to get ride of excess chi, negative chi and replenish with positive chi. Each one of us have an energy body which extends outside our physical body. When we work with chi, we work with both energy body and physical body

Key areas of our body which we need to be aware of, which chi passes and we need to unblock are as below: 

  • Upper dan Tian
  • Middle dan tian
  • Lower dan tian

Breathing techniques


During our 2 hour session at The Violet Flame, we were taught on some breathing techniques, which is of paramount importance. We need to learn normal abdominal breathing. In fact, we were told that babies will breathe through tummy, not through their chest, hence that's what we refer to as natural breathing.
