57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine Restaurant @ IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

It was a night of steamboat and Asian cuisine the other evening when a bunch of us dropped by 57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine Restaurant @ IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. Located on the second floor at IOI City Mall, the restaurant had a really nice decoration, unique 'peacock' design and theme. Check out what we feasted on that evening.

Unique decor, beautifully done

We were greeted warmly by 57 Hotpot staffs upon entering the establishment. I was immediately taken in by the ambiance, wooden tables and chairs, as well as the beautiful, bold yet tasty design. 57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine Restaurant isn't just about their steamboat, as they serve a whole lot of delicious BBQ food, asian cuisine and more! We had so much that night and it wasn't even half of the full menu.

Our hotpot was fired up almost immediately, and while waiting for the soup to get heated up we savoured their other asian cuisine. 57 Hotpot have a total of 5 soup base to choose from, as listed below. I was told they plan to increase the number of soup base very soon, adding more variety of taste.

But first off let me introduce the current promotion that 57 Hotpot is having. For RM79.90 (for 2pax), diners get to try out their promotional hotpot, consisting of a whole lot of seafood, lamb, chicken, vegetables and a whole lot more.

I did like the beef and chicken slices, cut thin, perfect to enjoy it 'shabu-shabu' style. There were prawns, fish cake, tofu, various stuffed dumplings, crab sticks, mushrooms, noodles, and a whole lot of vegetables. Immersed it all into the various flavoured boiling soup, and you have yourself a great steamboat dinner to enjoy, especially if the weather is cold outside.

57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine served some really nice BBQ meat as well, which we sampled that evening. Skewered meat, my favourite. The Xin Jiang BBQ Lamb (Kawap) has its origin from China, and I must attest to its authenticity as I tasted nearly the same flavours when I was in Shanghai. Love how the meat is seasoned, barbecued and sprinkled with these chilli flakes for that extra spice. Good stuff. Check out more barbecued offerings below.

BBQ Squid (57 Style/ Teriyaki) – RM18.80
BBQ Squid (57 Style/ Teriyaki) – RM18.80

The BBQ Saury Fish and BBQ Squid came on a plate with two very distinct flavours. I love how the BBQ Squid turned out, doused in 57Hotpot's special Teriyaki sauce. The onions helped to bring out its flavours as well. Good to munch on while waiting for our steamboat to be ready.

BBQ Lamb with Onion – RM34.50

Nasi Kambing 57 - RM29.90
Nasi Kambing 57 - RM29.90

Two of the must-try dishes at 57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine, the BBQ Lamb with Onion and Nasi Kambing 57. Both uses the same signature barbecued lamb, one with rice and one on its own. Both tastes equally good. The lamb itself was flavoured perfectly, one of my favourite for the night.

Fried Eggplant with Minced Chicken Seafood – RM18 (3pcs)

Not my cup of tea, but my fellow foodies that night gushed over the Fried Eggplant with Minced Chicken Seafood, each calling this dish their favourite. Probably because I am not a fan of eggplants, but 57 Hotpot did this dish really well, complete with crispy outer coating and savoury tasty minced chicken and seafood inside.

57 Spicy Grill Fish – RM59.90
57 Spicy Grill Fish – RM59.90

If you have a very big appetite, and wish to order a delicious big fish dish to share, then go for their 57 Spicy Grill Fish. Served piping hot, it is a really big dish, complete with Chicken ham to create that unique blend of seafood and meaty taste. Done Chinese style, I recommend this dish to be shared, as one cannot hope to finish everything in one sitting.

Fans of noodles, fret not, as 57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine Restaurant serves some rather nice Shang Mee too. We tried the Stir Fried Australian Beef Shang Mee as well as their seafood version, the Stir Fried Seafood Chicken Shang Mee and it turned out pretty well, tasty and all. Now the next time you're at IOI City Mall and looking for a good place to eat with friends and family, do drop by 57 Hotpot & Asian Cuisine Restaurant!
