A while back, I had the opportunity to attend the launching of weBoost in Malaysia, introducing two of their latest products, the weBoost Connect 3G and the weBoost Drive 3G-S. Now if you have not heard of this brand before then you're forgiven, as it is an absolutely new brand in Malaysia, brought into Malaysia by Wilson Electronics and distributed locally by Digital Paper.

“Having a strong and reliable cell phone connection is vital in today’s fast-paced world and can make a difference, be it in our personal or professional lives," said Bob Van Buskirk, President and CEO of weBoost. “At weBoost we believe that staying connected, whether at home, in the office, or on the road is vitally important to all our cellular customers throughout the world.
So how does this translate to the man on the street like you and me? Well for starters, weBoost produces mobile phone coverage boosters which exists to improve lives via superior mobile/cellular communication experiences. The mobile booster will help to enhance cellphone carriers in Malaysia (both voice and data) and ensures that you’ll always stay connected.

Van Buskirk added, “Based on our research, Malaysians desire reliable cellular signals and seamless connectivity for their work and personal lives. We’re excited to bring our products and technology to Malaysian consumers as we enter this new chapter in our global expansion into Asia, with Malaysia being our first destination outside North America for weBoost.”
The benefits of using the weBoost booster can be summed up in a few key pointers below.
- Increase cellular coverage signal.
- Fewer dropped calls and lost connections.
- Clearer voice quality.
- Faster data download speeds.
- Increase battery life for cellular devices.
weBoost Connect 3G
For those who depend on reliable connectivity indoors, the weBoost Connect 3G cellular signal booster delivers significant coverage enhancements to voice and 2G and 3G data, for all carriers and cellular devices. It works by capturing the outside, usable signal, amplifying it, and redistributing the boosted and usable signal throughout an entire home or office, providing reliable voice and data coverage for all cellular carriers where it is needed.
weBoost Drive 3G-S
When connectivity in a vehicle is a must, weBoost Drive 3G-S—an all-in-one phone cradle and signal booster – extends the range where a call can be made, which virtually eliminates areas of poor coverage, providing more consistent and reliable service. Like the Connect 3G, it boosts voice and data signals for 2G and 3G, and works with all cellular carriers. When used in weak signal areas, both products can provide as much as 3 hours of additional talk time, or 20 percent better battery life.

I was pretty psyched up after the launch event to test out the weBoost Drive 3G-S that I immediately went ahead to unbox the package to find out more about the product. Inside the packaging we have the product itself which doubles up as a mobile phone cradle, the grips, as well as the power cable to the device and the cable to the included antenna.

Now one of the reasons I took a very keen interest in this Drive 3G-S mobile signal booster can be attributed to my everyday experience where I get very irritated when I'm talking on the phone (via handsfree!) in the car and it gets cut off midway due to poor reception and the likes. "Call failed" has been one of the words I hate seeing on my mobile. So if there is a device promising to fix this, ensuring your call quality and stability is similar to if you are outside the car while driving, I'm all IN.

The weBoost Drive 3G-S mobile signal booster ensures I have a reliable cellular connection in my vehicle whenever I need it. It detects and amplifies the mobile signal, and makes it available to the phone.

Stated on the box one of the key features of weBoost Drive 3G-S was that it is easy to install. Well, I put it to the test last weekend, installing everything including the antenna into my car. Hey, I wanted to test it right away so there I was spending some effort to get it up and running.
|Mounted on my dashboard|
It is really very simple, where they provided me with a ready double sided adhesive rubber to mount it on the dashboard. Being so light, the device itself felt secured in place the moment I stuck it on. Two cables run out from the weBoost Drive 3G-S, one toward the cigarette power port to power up the device, and another which is attached to the antenna to be placed outside the car on the roof.
Do check out a quick video below on how to install the device in your vehicle.

All installed, and ready to test. Using it for the past 3 days or so in the car has been a bliss. Gone are the weak signal spots when I drive through certain areas of the highway towards Shah Alam, and majority of the time I have a full bar of 3G signal. This is pretty cool, considering I always get dropped calls while using the phone in the car, so far I haven't experienced any yet using the weBoost Drive 3G-S. Now if only I could make the wires run more neatly inside the car.

On top of this Drive 3G-S mobile signal booster that I'm using, weBoost will soon launch coverage boosting products for buildings (i.e: homes, apartment, offices – not just for cars), so do stay tuned for that. Check them out at their website linked at https://www.weboost.com/my .
All weBoost cellular signal boosters including the Connect 3G and the Drive 3G-S feature patented, FCC-certified cellular network protection technology, which prevent interference with cellular networks. These techniques were developed and refined by North American-based parent company, Wilson Electronics, and took more than a decade of research and development to achieve.
The weBoost signal boosters will be available for purchase at select locations throughout the country retailing at RM389.00 ($119.99 USD) for the Drive 3G-S, and RM1,145.00 ($349.99 USD) for the Connect 3G.
