PETRONAS Chinese New Year 2014 'Young Hearts' Web Film

PETRONAS' latest campaign in celebration of the upcoming 2014 Chinese New Year was launched recently with the premiere of a specially produced three-minute web film titled 'Young Hearts'. I had the opportunity to catch the premiere before it was launched to the public at their official Youtube channel. It was indeed an interesting affair as I got to catch the actors and director behind the really meaningful web film.

Chinese New Year has always been the occasion to be looked forward to, as family members from near and far reunite and get together to share love, laughter and good wishes. It is also an occasion where memories are reminisced and made. PETRONAS wishes to celebrate these values through its 2014 Chinese New Year Communication Campaign, with the 'Young Hearts' web film.

It has almost become an expectation from PETRONAS to come up with really good TV commercials or web films each major festive celebrations and the anticipation this time around is high. I personally could not wait to catch the 'Young Hearts' web film the moment I arrived at the venue of the premiere launch. Of course, I will be sharing the full length Youtube web film at the end of this post.

Launched by the top management from PETRONAS, the campaign comprises a specially produced three-minute web film titled 'Young Hearts'. A 60-second and a 30-second version of the film will be aired as a TV Commercial (TVC), and a community programme for PETRONAS staff.  We held our breath as the web-film was shown on the projector to the media, bloggers and staff present that afternoon.

The web film starts off showing the excitement of its two main characters, which were depicted by these two really cute children on the eve of CNY as they prepare for the celebrations. The story follows them as they shop for CNY essentials and gifts for the family, running around playfully, cycling to a lake, while enjoying a truly lovely moment together. The atmosphere was filled with youthful exuberance and enthusiasm.

'Young Hearts' was made to inspire, to remind us to hold true to our values, appreciate our rich culture and the importance of family ties. The web film was shown twice, as it had a very nicely planned out twist, or should I say a beautifully crafted storyline which is unveiled only at the very end, prompting us to want to re-watch it again to catch what we had missed.

In addition to the web film, PETRONAS will also be spreading the message of hop and optimism by reaching out to the less privileged through its signature community programme Sentuhan Kasih. A fund raising campaign will be organised for PETRONAS' staff and the proceeds will be channeled to the National Kidney Foundation.

I do really like the way the scenes played out. Intrigued yet? Watch it below then, as I embed the video into this post. Personally, I really like the 'Young Hearts' web film which literally made me grin from ear to ear with happiness midway through watching it. Maybe it's the atmosphere, or the music played, but the director did a really good job producing this.
