Simmer Huang (黃記煌) - Three Sauce Simmer Pot @ Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur

Even before they opened at Pavilion Elite, I have already done a pre-shoutout linked at (Simmer Huang - Three Sauce Simmer Pot New Restaurant To Open In Malaysia). Now that they have opened, we were there to try out their traditional, imperial simmer style Chinese cuisines from Qing Dynasty, and it was good! Check it out below.

Simmer Huang will opens its first restaurant in Malaysia at Pavilion Elite. Vegetables, herbs and sauces are cooked without using any water through a unique simmering technique to preserve the nutrient content of the food. The secret of success of the simmer pot is said to lie within the ratio of ingredients to the herbs and spices. The restaurant itself is located on the 8th floor of Pavilion Elite, with Oriental decor inside.

So how does the Simmer Huang "three sauce simmer pot" works? Featuring a hundred year old imperial recipe from the glorious Qing Dynasty days, the pot features the art of simmering. By doing this, the natural goodness of traditional Chinese therapeutic herbs, vitamins and proteins from the nutritious ingredients is retained. Healthy indeed!

Ordering our Three Sauce Simmer Pot @ Simmer Huang is pretty simple. First we get to choose our main ingredients for the hot pot. A wide variety of seafood and meat is up for the picking, from fresh fish, frog, chicken, pork, assorted seafood and even Australian beef, ranging from RM90 to RM150 per pot.

Next, choose your type of sauce for each pot. The sauces range from Classic, Seafood, Spicy, Hot and Spicy and Soy. That evening, we tried their Seafood and Classic sauce, and it actually tasted really good. Once we chose our ingredients and sauce, the waiter will then proceed to prepare our pot in front of us. The pouring of the sauces needs technique in itself I was told, and they actually went through training to ensure it's evenly spaced out and uniform.

If you didn't notice, there's a couple of layers to the pot. The bottom layer will be ten types of vegetables as base, which I was told when put under heat and pressure, this base will form the juices, without the need to add any water. After the base vegetable layer, then there will be the main ingredients put on. Drizzle the sauce on to add flavours, simmer for 10-15 minutes and we have our hot Simmer Huang Three Sauce Simmer Pot all ready to be savoured!

Spicy Porky Pot

After our seafood pot, we went for the signature Spicy Porky Pot, filled with similar vegetables as base. It is a spicier dish, with chilli oil and spices added in, so be wary.

What's inside our delectable Spicy Porky Pot? A simple mix of pork belly, oyster mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms and black fungus makes all that difference. My favourite Three Sauce Simmer Pot at Simmer Huang, my only complain is there's not enough pork belly inside! Really good stuff here, definitely recommended.

Appetizers

On top of the delectable Three Sauce Simmer Pots at Simmer Huang, do try out their wide variety of Chinese appetizers before, during or after savouring the hot pot. I do suggest before, as after having the hot pot, it can be rather filling. Check it out below.

Simmer Huang Octopus

Of the three, Simmer Huang Octopus, Signature Vinegar Peanut, and Mushroom Bites, I liked the peanuts the most. Surprisingly, the sour vinegar brought out the crunchiness of the nuts. The octopus is pretty nice as well, one of a kind, which I haven't tasted elsewhere before.

We ended our meal at Simmer Huang with their deliciously sweet dessert, Mango Feast. It combines the best, three in one, comprising of Mango Ice Cream Sandwich, Mango Icy Sweetie Balls and Icy Mango with Coconut Flesh. What a refreshing end to a filling satisfying meal.

The classy design and image of the restaurant infused with a modern twist serves to provide a relaxing and enjoyable dining ambience, be it for business meetings, family gatherings, festival celebrations or those who wish to have a balanced meal. Go check out Simmer Huang (黄记皇) - Three Sauce Simmer Pot @ Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur if you haven't yet.
