NAKED Restaurant & Bar @ Plaza Damas Sri Hartamas

With a name that goes NAKED, and a tagline that reads "Experience The Passion", you know you're entering a one-of-a-kind spot, one which is bold enough to stand out from the rest. I had the opportunity to dine at NAKED Restaurant & Bar over at Plaza Damas Sri Hartamas last week. Read on below for my review on the food and restaurant.

Born from a need to provide you with the best experience possible, a group of unrelentingly honest and passionate souls came together to shape out a place that they could all say is awesome. NAKED Restaurant & Bar as we see it, is a place where you can bare it all and be yourself - it's where you elate to a whole new degree of self-satisfaction!

The moment I arrived at the restaurant, it did strike me that NAKED's management has put in a lot of effort to make the decor and environment as comfortable as possible, yet being bold enough to incorporate different themes into the decor to suit the theme of the month. Yes, I was told at NAKED, every month they launch various themes, bringing further excitement to an already bright bold spot.

Arriving rather early at the venue, while waiting for my fellow foodies and friends to arrive, I made myself comfortable at the tables at NAKED. It was a good thing they had complimentary high speed wifi, enabling me to finish some of my work on my laptop while waiting. Check out below on what we had that evening.

#1 The Romaine Emperor - RM18
#1 The Romaine Emperor - RM18

We were treated to two of NAKED Restaurant's signature salads, namely the Romaine Emperor and their very crunchy and delectable NAKED House salad. The Romaine Emperor, even as the name suggested some royalty connections, came looking like the usual Caesar's salad. Inside there were the usual crips romaine lettuce, tossed in a creamy lemon dressing, topped with garlic butter croutons and freshly shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. What made the salad interesting was the fact that we could choose whether we wanted it half dressed (with only lemon and salt), fully loaded (with the creamy lemon dressing) or naked (without dressing).

#2 NAKED House Salad - RM25
#2 NAKED House Salad - RM25

Now I much preferred the NAKED House Salad, if only because they had these crunchy candied almonds inside. Oh, I do love those almonds. The NAKED House Salad was a combination of assorted highland leaves and crunchy peas with roasted chicken breast, tossed in NAKED's house herb dressing, finished with feta cheese, grain crisps, candied almonds and shaved radish. Similar to the Romaine Emperor, we could choose from having the salad half dressed, fully loaded or naked.

#3 Sweet Potato Chips - RM18
#3 Sweet Potato Chips - RM18

Unlike your normal potato chips, here at NAKED Restaurant & Bar, we had a taste of the Sweet Potato Chips, made from you guessed it, sweet potatoes. It looked simple enough, which was a wonder why not many other restaurants serve this appetizer. The sweet potatoes were fried to a crisp, topped with freshly shaved Parmigiano-reggiano cheese and served with truffle aioli.

#4 Petite Burgers - RM29
#4 Petite Burgers - RM29

Burgers as an appetizer? Well, it would have been an overkill if the burgers were regular size, but here at NAKED Restaurant, they served these mini Petite Burgers to whet our appetites for the main courses to come. It came with seared marinated mini beef patties, topped with spicy onion rings & pickles, melted aged cheddar, dressed with spicy mayo, served in a hot toasted bun. I did like the beef patties, as it was not overcooked, being tender and succulent to the bite.

#5 Lady Finger Frito - RM16
#5 Lady Finger Frito - RM16

Another unique appetizer dish, the Lady Finger Frito surprised me with it's presentation when served to us. How often do we get deep fried lady fingers, the vegetable, at a restaurant? It did remind me somewhat of the japanese vegetables tempura, but I was reminded that these weren't the same by the difference in taste. The thinly sliced lady fingers were tossed in paprika flavoured batter, before being coated with breadcrumbs and fried to a crisp. Finished with fresh coriander, and served with a cucumber mint yogurt dip, this was a rather refreshing somewhat healthy snack.

#6 Flightless Wings (Hot Sauce) - RM24

#7 Flightless Wings (Mango Barbeque) - RM24
#7 Flightless Wings (Mango Barbeque) - RM24

Next, we were served with NAKED Restaurant's Flightless Wings, two different variations of it, one tossed in hot sauce while the other tossed in Mango Barbeque sauce. The chicken was really crispy, being deep fried to perfection before being tossed in your selected flavour and served with blue cheese sauce. I did like the hot sauce version, as I like my chicken wings spicy, but if you prefer it being sweet with a tinge of barbequed flavour, then go for their Mango Barbeque Flightless Wings.

#8 NAKED House Pasta - RM49
#8 NAKED House Pasta - RM49

If you're a pasta lover, then go for their NAKED House Pasta. Using Orecchetti pasta, inside there were some really yummy ingredients, sauteed tiger prawns, potatoes, asparagus, and baby leeks in a fennel cream sauce. Topped with smoked salmon and fine herbs, the pasta was indeed a very 'rich' one. I'm more a fan of meat dishes, hence did not really favour this dish as compared to meatier ones.

#9 NAKED House Pizza - RM39
#9 NAKED House Pizza - RM39

Any western or international meal would not be complete without a pizza dish, hence here at NAKED Restaurant, we were served with their NAKED House Pizza. The pizza was a freshly rolled thin crust one, with house made tomato sauce, herb marinated roasted chicken breast, pickled jalapenos, red onions, mushrooms, whole-milk mozzarella, finished with fresh chives. Personally, I felt the crust was a little too hard even though it is very thin and supposed to be crispy. Due to that hardness, I found it a tad too tough to chew off, even though the ingredients were top notch and delicious.

#10 NAKED House Cod Fillet - RM48
#10 NAKED House Cod Fillet - RM48

Now, even though I'm never a big fan of fish fishes, anytime a good serving of Cod fish is put in front of me, I will dig in without any reservations. NAKED House Cod Fillet was a fine example of a good fresh nicely done cod fillet dish. Pan-seared to perfection, crispy on the outside, flaky and soft on the inside, the dish was served with herb butter, dressed in charred red pepper vinaigrette. I like the fact the cod meat flaked and peeled easily with a twist of the fork, being sweet without the fishy taste, just the way I like it.

#11 Twisted Lamb Loin
#11 Twisted Lamb Loin

This time around, I did not get to taste my favourite steak dish, and had NAKED Restaurant's Twisted Lamb Loin instead. The lamb was roasted with carrot puree, roasted garlic, dressed in lamb jus, topped with crisp shallot rings, and served with potato puree and sauteed seasonal vegetables. I did not really fancy this dish however, probably due to the lack of fats in the lamb making it rather dry. But that's to be expected from a lamb loin I guess, a healthy piece of fatless meat.

#12 Ko Ko Kinabalu - RM20

#13 French Lust - RM22
#13 French Lust - RM22

We ended our lovely meal at NAKED Restaurant & Bar with their sweet desserts. Of course after the desserts came the cocktails, but that will be revealed only at the end of this post. Shown above were the first two desserts that came, the Ko Ko Kinabalu 'lava chocolate' and the French Lust. The Ko Ko Kinabalu was an A La Minute chocolate fondant with white chocolate ganache, finished with coffee soil and seasonal berries. I took a liking for the French Lust though, as it was really sweet, being this silky smooth bruleed vanilla custard, finished with fresh seasonal fruits and chantilly cream.

#14 A La Minute Waffles - RM20

The A La Minute Waffles served by NAKED Restaurant & Bar was another special end to a nice meal, freshly made straight from the kitchen. We had a choice of the freshest in season fruit and berries, warm salted caramel sauce, seductive Belgian chocolate sauce, the coconut kaya spread or the warm canadian maple syrup. All these went well with the gourmet ice creams placed on top of the hot waffles.

As we were preparing to leave NAKED Restaurant & Bar, we were offered a taste of their signature cocktails made from lots of vodka, mixed with various different concotions, some of which I regretfully forgot the names to it. I will however share the pictures of the four cocktails served to us that night. It was already late that night, so do forgive me for my poor memory of the names of the various cocktails. They were good though, check them out below.

Overall it was a good meal, with great music and company at NAKED Restaurant & Bar. Their location at Plaza Damas Sri Hartamas was strategic too, one of which is easily located just by going round the block. With an ambiance that suits the mood, and comfy interior, do check out their Facebook page at

Ummmm...why do your old posts keep rotating and appearing up front? Some kind of new gimmick to get more hits? I see updates in somebody's bloglinks, click to hop over...and I see an old post. :(

  6. The food looks delicious and creative to attract me to visit this place. I am wondering if they have any connections with The Naked Cafe in Taichung which is very famous and packed always with long queues!!! There also such cafes in California too. The food there is always very good too with similar cozy ambiance.

I have blogged it once when I was in Taiwan. http://twilightzone518.blogspot.com/2012/11/my-happy-trip-to-taiwan.html
