Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Review

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Review

Have you read about my unboxing and first impression of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G? Not yet? Click here then. Today’s posting would be my review on this latest gadget after a few weeks of owning it and using it as my entertainment device and go-to photography device. The large display with Super AMOLED coupled with a 5000mAH battery totally makes this a must-get device for those looking for that perfect device on a modest budget. Read on below.

For those with a modest budget, this mid-range Samsung Galaxy device is a very capable little gadget with a host of tech and features packed inside. Worth the money, the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G retails for RM1,499, complete with internal size of 128GB and support of up to 1TB microSD slot.

Design & Display

Design wise, if you’re to go with the brighter colours, it is a really “happy” phone indeed. Innovative, candy bar design.

Mine’s in the Awesome Black colour, with matt texture all over, it does look classy and sleek. The matt texture will deter smudges and fingerprints which fits my active lifestyle perfectly.

The camera behind is unprotected though, but I don’t think that’s a major deterrence as it looks and feels robust enough to withstand day to day usage. Using the device daily for the past 1 month, I got so used to the lightweight feel of it that when I was using my iPhone as the secondary phone, it felt like a brick in comparison. The on/off button is placed together with the volume rocker on the right side of the phone.

On the bottom of the device, you have the usual USB Type C port, together with the volume grill. Gone is the 3.5mm audio jack, so we’re left with using bluetooth for audio.

Switching on the device and the Super AMOLED display really comes alive. With a  90Hz FHD+ main display resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, it’s a sight to behold. I for one am always impressed with Samsung Galaxy’s display so this latest Galaxy A33 5G does live up to its reputation. They managed to slim down the bezels to really thin bezels, a big upgrade from its previous iteration.

Performance

Performance with the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has been stellar, without any lag nor issues. Powered by an octa-core 2.4Ghz CPU processor, it handled my games and media consumption apps really well.

The interface itself is typical Samsung Android, icons and frames slide in smoothly, with apps launched instantaneously when started. Good OS indeed, I like the fact that most of the "bloatware" preinstalled on the device could be uninstalled without any fuss.

Camera

The camera is definitely one of the features that shouted out to me the moment I unboxed the device. With a quad rear camera set up, my first impression was that "wow, there's a whole lot of cameras on this phone". The rear camera houses a 48, 8, 5, and 2 MP lenses, going from F1.8, F2.2, F2.4 and F2.4 respectively.

Taking photos and portrait shots with the phone, the screen does do a good job showing how pretty the outcome can be. I totally enjoyed the ultra wide picture capabilities.

Battery

As mentioned in my unboxing post, the battery is a huge 5,000mAH capacity one. With intensive Netflix binging, and gaming, the battery will definitely last you more than a day. In fact its being touted to last up to 2 days and more in a single charge. Check out the specifications for the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, taken from Samsung's official site below:

Overall, it’s a BIG thumbs up from me. If you’re in the market for a modestly budgeted smartphone but one packed with all the latest tech and camera technology, then the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is for you.
