New On The Menu @ The X, Bangsar

Finding a spot to chill out after a long day at work has been my never ending quest recently. To be able to relax is important, and where better to chill out after hours than The X, over at Jalan Telawi, Bangsar. I’ve reviewed them before here, and just last week or so, I was there again to review the latest food addition to their menu. Check it out.

Snacks

We kicked off our evening with some snacks, in the form of The X’s Cherry Tomato Bruschetta. Refreshing yet a good savoury start to our meal, the cherry tomato confit with pesto went really well with the mini charcoal bun it came on.

Smoked Duck Wakame

Oh, a special mention has to be said for the Smoked Duck Wakame. Tasty, very flavourful sliced duck breast with ebiko and mizkan sauce, it’s unique yet so good!

Some salad to whet your appetite for more noms to come? Why not try out the Citrus Smoked Duck Salad. With a mix of orange wedges, red chilli padi with honey mustard dressing & baby tomato relish, the salad has a slight fiery spice to it.

Crispy Black Pepper Chicken Wrap

An interesting mix to what I’ve come to expect from The X, we tried their Crispy Black Pepper Chicken Wrap. The crispy chicken strips inside was really tasty, and with the refreshing mixed salad, tomato, cucumber, black pepper & sliced cheese inside, it’s a healthy mix indeed.

Chicken Sesame Pizza

Yummylicious pizza, with lots of sesame sprinkled on top, the Chicken Sesame Pizza came with grilled chicken, tomato concasse, mozzarella cheese, pineapple, capsicum, black olives & goma sauce all in. It’s rather large, so I do advice to order this when sharing with friends.

Prawn Aglio Olio

Spicy stuff! I did not know a Prawn Aglio Olio could be this spicy. X Bangsar came up with a spicy one, which gets spicier after a couple of bites. I personally loved it, but the spiciness could be a bit too much. The Squid ink linguine came doused in extra virgin olive oil, white wine, garlic, chilli, parsley, with tiger Prawns and lots of shaved parmesan inside. Be wary, this dish is SPICY!

Lamb Sliders

This lamb sliders came highly recommended by the chef. They were really juicy and tender, served with Japanese bamboo charcoal buns. I just couldn’t get enough of the sliders. Yum!

There’s even an Asian dish on the new menu, aptly named The X Angel Laksa. You don’t get the usual assam laksa, but more of the southern flavours, still very tasty though. We had generous amounts of tuna in Laksa broth, red chillies, Japanese cucumber, boiled egg, mint leaf, shallot and lime topped with Crab meat. Don’t play play, the ingredients are not your usual run of the mill laksa stuff.

Grilled Barramundi with Chickpea Salad

Bring forth the mains! If you like some seafood to go with your drinks, do try out the Grilled barramundi with chickpea salad. How interesting, it’s my first time seeing fish being prepared on a bed of chickpeas. Good stuff though.

The X Steak

Ah, don’t forget to try out The X Steak, 180grams Australian steak with roasted potatoes, mixed salad, black pepper gravy. The tender steak itself is cooked to medium rare perfection, accompanied by creamy mashed potato and grilled vegetables.

When you're dining at The X, remember to try their cocktails as well. They have a very good mix of cocktails available.

Good night out, good food. Love the Japanese infused western dishes created by the good folks from X Bangsar. Special thanks to Racheal from Foodilifecious for the invite to savour these wonderful fares.
