Ambrosia Wines & Tapas Bar @ Taman Danau Desa
Wine appreciation coupled with food pairing is all the rage in recent times. When was the last time you had really good wine, in a nice setting, coupled with good food? I was over at Ambrosia Wines & Tapas Bar, Taman Danau Desa recently to savour their fares and wines. It was a good experience, with a large range of wines available. Check out what we had that evening.

Wide selection of wines and liquor! |
There’s over 200 variants of wines available at Ambrosia Wines, and on top of that they have over 100 labels of Single Malt Whisky, Japanese Whisky and craft beers. Now that’s a whole lot of choice of drinks to pair with your food. The ambiance is good as well, perfect to chill out after a long day at work. While we were dining there the other night, I noticed quite a number of regulars as well.

Let the food and wine pairing begin! |
Of Wines and Food
We began our wine pairing dinner which consists of three Australian wines available exclusively at Ambrosia Wines, namely the Woodstock Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Sfera Shiraz 2013 and Pioneer Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2015. The Woodstock Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was paired with the Mejillones Borrachos (Mussels White Wine sauce served with French bread). Good, even though I don’t have an affinity for mussels.

Time to wine and dine my friends |
Up next we tried the Tocino Y Champinones Espagueti which is basically the Shiitake Mushroom, Bacon and Tomato Spaghetti. Pretty tasty, the pasta went well with our Sauvignon Blanc. We also tried Ambrosia Wines’ Deep Fried Pork Belly, and that was GOOD! A tad too fatty for me, but an indulgence once in a while is fine by me.

Don’t forget to try the Costilla De Cerdo Fresas (Pork Ribs with Strawberry Sauce) as well, which is almost akin to our Chinese cuisine dish, albeit with a westernised flair.

We went on to the next bottle of wine in our wine pairing journey that night, the Pioneer Road Carbernet Sauvignon. The wine had a character of ripe dark cherries, chocolate, and a hint of crushed leaf. Good stuff, and the wine goes well with the Supreme Pulled Pork Pizza (Pineapple Pork Pizza with Bacon, Jalapenos & Cilantro). What a pizza, complete with generous toppings of pork, bacon, jalapeños, cilantro and of course lots of pineapples.

Great night out at Ambrosia Wines |
We tried out the third wine of the night from Ambrosia Wines, the Sfera Shiraz 2013 as well. Fragrant, love how well the wine goes with the food presented.
