Just recently, I was involved in a baking competition organized by the Raisin Administrative Committee (RAC) hosted at Berjaya University College of Hospitality. It's in conjunction with the "Raya Fiesta", which saw celebrity chef Anuar Draman showcase his delicious array of California Raisins bakery and dessert creations.

Now I'm not an experienced cook, or baker for that matter, but it was with great excitement that I went for this event. My first foray into baking some muffins. Anyway, the event is aimed to create awareness on nutrition, and versatilities of using California Raisins in a variety of pastries and desserts. Raisins are perfect for home cooked meals, especially to be used for buka puasa this Ramadan.

Raisins, and more raisins |

California Raisins, the healthy snack |
During the event, before our bloggers baking competition began, we were introduced to celebrity chef Anuar Draman, where he shared his tips and recipes to make some very wholesome and tasty baking creations. Chef Anuar Draman's creation that morning include the delectable California Raisin Almond Puff, California Raisin Chocolate Layer Steamed Cake, Walnut California Raisin Cookies, and a couple more yummy bites.

and we're all set to bake, after a quick shot with the mascot and face of California Raisin |
After the chef's demonstration, we went off with our paired blogger to kick start the baking competition. It was a pit of skills, one which I obviously did not have, but I do have a recipe which together with the partner of the day, we managed to produce our masterpiece, the California Raisin Mufins! Check out some of the photos taken during our baking competition.

A rather unflattering angle of me at work |

It's time to bake these babies |

Voila! Our end creation, the California Raisin Muffins |
There were multiple teams of bloggers each with their creations, hustling and bustling in the big kitchen trying to complete their creations within the allocated time. I was just glad my muffins came out good, without being underbaked, nor overbaked. The judges were very critical too, of each and every baked offerings.

Let the judging begin |

We didn't win, but hey, it was all good fun |

One for the album |
It was indeed a fun and memorable experience, where we enjoyed baking our creations, all thanks to California Raisins. Each of our masterpieces had these raisins incorporated into its recipe, one way or the other. The California Raisins "Raya Fiesta" @ Berjaya University College of Hospitality was a success, and here's to more of these events organized in the near future!
A must-have for our Sarawak's own daging masak hitam.
