So there I was at the press conference of the upcoming Saturday Night Fever The Musical 2015, with a special meet and greet with the performers. Milestone Production is proud to be bringing these world-class performers to Kuala Lumpur where they will be performing at Istana Budaya from September 4th – 13th , 2015.

Saturday Night Fever tells the story of Tony Manero, a young Italian- American man with a talent for dance. As immortalized forever by the performance of John Travolta in the 1977 film that inspired the musical, Tony has only one ambition: to become the disco king. When he meets Stephanie Mangano, who also dreams of a life beyond the city, they decide to train together for a dance competition and their lives are changed forever.

Before they take the stage in the opening show on September 4th , the leading stars for this beloved musical gave a teaser on what to expect at a special media meet-and-greet event at Johnny Rockets Pavilion KL on September 1st. Principal performers Brandon Rubendall, Jenna Rubaii and Nick Varricchio who plays Tony, Stephanie and Double J respectively for this musical, were in attendance at this event together with the show’s official organizer Milestone Production Managing Director,  Grace Lee.

Having been on many tours which include Wicked, Spiderman:Turn Off The Dark and Hairspray, Brandon has also performed alongside Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce. His co-star Jenna has been on tours for great musicals such as Grease, Pride and Prejudice and 54 Forever. These two seasoned stage performers certainly piqued our excitement with their sneak-peak performance at the meet-and-greet session.

And helping turn up the heat at the session was also the dashing Nick Varricchio who plays Double J in the musical. Nick was born and raised in Cleveland and has performed in Broadway and have been on many musical tours which include ‘A Chorus Line’ , ‘Spring Awakening’ , ‘Cabaret’ , ‘Chicago’ , ‘Into The Woods’ ; ‘Cinderella’ and many more. Be ready to sing along and do the hustle to the tunes of the Bee Gees as their arrival here marks the beginning of a renaissance of disco fever in Kuala Lumpur.

Under the watchful eye of award-winning director Bobby Garcia,  Saturday Night Fever The Musical 2015 will be imbued with a slight contemporary edge while retaining the film’s grittiness and realistic portrayal of the disco era. Its showcase of hit music and electric dance moves is true entertainment value at its best.
