I've Got The Power With Sucker Punch

Image
Another super cool movie is coming up in March 2011! I just did a writeup on the movie Beastly , and here comes the next big thing, Sucker Punch! Check out the movie tagline, "Close your eyes, Open your mind, You will be unprepared"! Well, on the contrary I'm all prepared to catch this movie. Official Movie Poster I know, the title isn't very attractive initially, the first thing that hit my mind when I saw the title was, how corny can you get? But don't let the title fool you, this movie is the bomb I tell you! Don't take my word for it, check out the movie trailer below and you will definately understand why I say it's the bomb. It's all about this girl named Babydoll being held against her will together with a bunch of other young girls, locked up together. Led by Babydoll, the girls fight their way out in virtual warfare, amidst samurais and serpents. The visual effect itself will knock you off your seat. Which brings us back to a ques...

Valentine's Day Flowers At Petaling Street

Image
Buying flowers on Valentine's day ? Are you out of your mind? Don't you know they charge double on this day? Well, those were the questions that came to my mind when I decided to get a hand bouquet today. And why despite knowing that I have to pay double for the flowers, do I still continue on my quest to get it? It's my ROM (Registration of marriage) day tomorrow, and I need a hand bouquet for my bride to be. So there I was walking down Petaling Street hunting for a hand bouquet. They sell cheaper flowers there as compared to other parts of KL. Even then, I knew I was going to get slaughtered by the florists. The florist The whole stretch of roads were filled with florists, selling a whole variety of flowers . As expected the prices were doubled. When I asked about marriage hand bouquets, I was quoted prices which surprised me, I did not know then that marriage hand bouquets were different from normal flower bouquets. These little buggers ( marriage hand bouquets )...

Lion Dance During Breakfast

Image
Today, while I was having my wan tan mee for breakfast, a loud deafening sound interrupted me. The sound went "Tong Tong Tong Chiang!!" When I looked up, I realized the coffeeshop I was having my breakfast at, was being visited by a lion dance troupe . I paused my "makaning" and managed to snap some pictures with my old but trusty iPhone 3GS. Have a look below. Lion Dance Posing for us The coffeeshop Lion Head The lion dance was interesting to watch, and the lion even entered the coffeeshop straight to the alter to "pray" there. Customers having their breakfast there were treated to a free, up, close and personal lion dance. Heck, we could even touch the head and body of the lion while it dances pass us. How's that for getting some good luck this new year! The lion "praying" A collage of pictures taken A great way to start my morning with, let's hope some luck brushes off me and prosperity will shine all year long. I ...

A Short Lunch Break At Secret Recipe

Image
The other day, I was sort of hungry during lunch for some cake, and decided to crash in at this Secret Recipe outlet near my work place. It has been a while since I last splurged on Secret Recipe's food. Have a look below on what I had that afternoon. We did not order a lot, but it was really filling. I started off with the chocolate chip walnut cake. Initially I wanted to order some cheese cakes as Secret Recipe is famous for its various cheese cakes, but decided not to because I wanted to save the calories there and spend it on the ice cream later! Chocolate Chip Walnut Cake - RM6.50 Next up, ordered the main course, which was the chicken cordon bleu, and satay respectively. The cordon bleu was really nice with creamy cheese in it. I forgot to take a picture of the cheese inside because greedy me ate most of it before realizing. Chicken Cordon Bleu - RM15.80 The Satay was good, with huge chunks of chicken meat. But I actually prefer satays with a bit of fat, this w...

Sungai Pinang Food Court Penang

Image
Here's to more blogging on food. This was where my family and I went to for dinner during the Chinese new year holidays. The location of this food court is near the intersection between Sg Pinang and the Jelutong Expressway in Penang. Sg Pinang Food Court My family had eaten here on various occasions, but this was my first time here. It reminded me a lot of Kuta Bali Restaurant with the lookalike roof. As usual, we had our fare of penang hawker food. The servings weren't very big, usual Penang style, but the taste is good. Have a look below on some of the food we tried that day. Penang Curry Mee Chicken Chop Hokkien Mee On top of the main dishes, we ordered a few side dishes, my favourite chicken wings and a bit of dim sum. Have a look at the delicious wings below. BBQ Chicken Wings Fried Chicken Wings Sui Kow Sui Kow Char Siew Bao Of course after the happy and satisfying meal, I managed to capture some pictures of m...

Toys Donation Box

Image
While I was at Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang the other day, this particular box caught my eye and interest. From afar it looked like a boxful of toys. On closer inspection, what do you know, it IS a boxful of toys! Colorful toys, cute toys. Second Chance Toys There were mostly plush toys, and some plastic like colorful things. However the toys are not for sale, nor to be taken. This is a toys donation charity box, for parents whose kids have outgrown their toys and would like to contribute. Second Chance Toys, that was the name given by the wife of Penang's Chief Minister's wife, Betty Chew as stated on the toy donation banner. I feel it was a noble effort indeed, to collect second hand toys which can then be distributed to deserving children. Cute toys As stated, Do not take, but give! So if you're around the neighborhood, and have excess toys, do take note there's a toys donation campaign held at Sunway Carnival Mall Penang.
