Hard Rock Hotel Penang

Image
Hard Rock Hotel Penang , one of the more luxurious rock themed hotel located along the beaches of Batu Ferringhi Penang was my choice of accommodation end of last year. It was to be a quiet getaway with Janice for my birthday as well as to celebrate the end of 2011. I did not plan it well ahead, in fact it was more of a last minute plan to crash in at Hard Rock Hotel due to the unavailability of Pulau Jerejak's hotel which was our initial plan.   Hard Rock Hotel Penang

Honda Insight Driving Experience

Image
Just last week, I had the opportunity to test drive the hybrid car, Honda Insight over a 2D1N event which brought me from PJ to Port Dickson, then to Malacca and back, thanks to Honda Malaysia . It was a pretty good experience as this was the first time I'm driving a hybrid car. With everything going green nowadays, it's high time we explore the benefits and features of the cool new Honda Insight.  Starting line @ The Bee, Jaya One Altogether 15 bloggers were called in to join Honda's "Test Drive Hybrid Vehicle Awareness Campaign" , some of whom I knew, and some new found friends, all pretty awesome bloggers. The event kicked off with us gathering at The Bee, Jaya One early in the morning. After some breakfast, an ice breaking game, welcome notes by the management of Honda Malaysia , and a short briefing by our lead driver Harvinder Singh, we were all prepped up to go on our adventure. My team consisting of Kenwooi , and Mike Yip . Divided...

Tamsui Lover Bridge Taiwan

Image
A couple of weeks back I was in Taiwan, and this Tamsui Lover Bridge over in Tamsui district in Taiper Taiwan was one of the attraction spots we went to. Located on the western tip of Tamsui district, this place is called the Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf and is accessible by bus. To reach the place, one only had to take the Taipei Metro (MRT) Tamsui Line to Tamsui Station, and then transfer to Bus Red-26, 836, or 837. Janice and I in front of Tamsui Lover Bridge

Taiwan Food Part 2

Image
Following up on the first part of Janice's collage of Taiwan food ( Taiwan Food Part 1 ), here will be part two with more food. Of course, most of the photos only showcase her as she's the main star! I'm guilty of having most of the Taiwan sausages during the whole trip though. The sausages there are fatter and bigger than the ones we have over here, hence my love for it. #1

Taiwan Food Part 1

The past week have been spent going around Taiwan and I must say there are a couple of things that make Taiwan a great place to be. Food , clothes and nature, these three things made my first trip to Taiwan really memorable. Janice with her food during one of her shopping spree

Happy Malaysia Day 2011

Image
Today Malaysians celebrate Malaysia Day, or "Hari Malaysia" throughout the nation. In fact since a couple of years back 16th September 2011 has been officially made a national public holiday, hence I'm happily "off-work" on a Friday today. Not to be confused with Malaysia's Independance Day which just passed on the 31st August 2011, "Hari Malaysia" marks the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963. "It marked the joining together of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore to form Malaysia. The formation of the new federation was planned to occur on June 1, 1963, but was later postponed to August 31, 1963, in order to coincide with the sixth Hari Merdeka. Several issues related to the Indonesian and the Filipino objection to the formation of Malaysia delayed the declaration to September 16 of the same year" Source: Wikipedia I for one, am having this "I Love Malaysia" feeling and all, mai...

1st Avenue Mall Raya Performances

Image
This year, the second day of Hari Raya coincides with Malaysia's Independence Day, or better known as Hari Merdeka. Hence the term this year "Merdeka Raya" to refer the joint celebration. Selamat Hari Raya to all those celebrating, and happy holidays to the rest. So it happened I was with my family shopping on Merdeka Day over in 1st Avenue Mall , when I saw this Raya performances at its centre court on the ground floor. Raya Perfornances at 1st Avenue Mall

Sungai Pinang Food Court Penang

Image
Here's to more blogging on food. This was where my family and I went to for dinner during the Chinese new year holidays. The location of this food court is near the intersection between Sg Pinang and the Jelutong Expressway in Penang. Sg Pinang Food Court My family had eaten here on various occasions, but this was my first time here. It reminded me a lot of Kuta Bali Restaurant with the lookalike roof. As usual, we had our fare of penang hawker food. The servings weren't very big, usual Penang style, but the taste is good. Have a look below on some of the food we tried that day. Penang Curry Mee Chicken Chop Hokkien Mee On top of the main dishes, we ordered a few side dishes, my favourite chicken wings and a bit of dim sum. Have a look at the delicious wings below. Kuta Bali Dinner With Family

Image
I reached my hometown, Penang today for the Chinese New Year holidays at around dinner time today. Oh, the feeling of seeing my parents was great. I do miss them a lot! If you don't know yet, Kuta Bali is this popular makan spot in Farlim Penang, and it's a great food spot. It's actually named after a tourist spot in Indonesia. Anyway Kuta Bali Farlim is themed to imitate this tourist spot, this was where I went with my family to have our dinner tonight. Kuta Bali Farlim Have a look below for some pictures I took of the food we ordered. The place was huge, with more than 30 hawkers stalls from my observation. You could find all famous penang food here, from the fried kuey teow, to the asam laksa to the loh bak. Penang Char Kuey Teow What can I say, I truly enjoyed the kuey teow. Now I remember why I rarely order fried kuey teow in KL, the taste is simply not up to par with Penang's. Next up I went ahead to choose some loh bak (assorted deep fried meat)....

Tokyo Disneyland

Image
I had the chance to visit Tokyo a few years back for a business trip, fully paid for by my previous company. What do you do when you're in Tokyo? Visit its attractions of course! And visit I did, one of them would be Tokyo Disneyland. Me against the backdrop of the disneyland castle Don't mind me, I had these pictures in my PC hard drive for years, and since it's the weekends , I took the opportunity to share it here on my blog. The tickets prices weren't very cheap A brief background on this place, Tokyo Disneyland is a 115 acre theme park located in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan, near Tokyo. If compared with the other Disneylands in other countries, this one could rank one of the smaller Disneylands, but the fun and magic remains the same. It was the first Disney parks to be built outside of the United States and opened April 15th 1983. Disneyland Tokyo I cannot remember exactly how much I paid to enter this place, but if I'm not wrong it was close to RM1...
