Image
Hennessy Artistry, an event I have had the chance to attend a couple of times, and it's good to know coming up very soon would be the large scale Hennessy Artistry Halo 2011 which is touted to be the biggest HA event for the year. I was told in a year, there will be around 4 Hennessy Artistry. This post will serve to drive buzz and publicity over the upcoming event, as even I wasn't furnished with the full details yet, only the fact that Yolanda Be Cool would be performing there. Yolanda Be Cool would be at Hennessy Artistry Halo 2011!

Happy Chinese New Year 2011!

Image
Happy Chinese New Year 2011! Gong Xi Fa Cai and may the year of the Rabbit be more prosperous than the previous years. May you be lucky, healthy, and wealthy, and wishing for a smooth year ahead. I ushered in the new year to the sound of deafening firecrackers let off by my lovely neighbours kicking off an auspicious year. Gong Xi Fa Cai!!! One more year, and our Chinese age has just been incremented by a beautiful year! Which reminded me of some pictures I took yesterday over at Gurney Plaza. Just for sharing below, do you remember playing these child machines when you were much younger? I hope by the time I have kids of my own, these machines will still be available for them to sit and enjoy. Of course, at your current age, don't start playing with it yourself unless you're my brother! Regardless of age...

Straits Quay Mall Penang

Image
At around the same time 1st Avenue Mall was opened in Penang, Straits Quay Mall was opened to the public as well. I did not have the chance to visit this new mall until today. First off, a quick background on Straits Quay Mall (I was told quay is pronounced "key"). The Front Entrance Straits Quay is located at Sri Tanjung Pinang, a reclaimed land somewhere in between Tanjung Bunga and Tanjung Tokong. It's a stone's throw away from Island Plaza. Currently its the latest seafront hangout spot in Penang. In case you are lost. The coolest thing about this mall is that the place is actually a residence apartment / condominium with the luxurious shopping complex located on the first and second floor. How I wish this was my home. The place is nice in the sense that it has a seafront promenade, cafe, bistro, restaurants and most of the major brands retail shops. CNY Deco just outside the mall In case you get lost again As I found out soon enough...

83rd Annual Academy Awards Oscar 2011 Nominations

Image
Saw this in the news the other day on the upcoming 83rd Academy Awards to be held on February 27th 2011 at Hollywood. It's THE award show to watch and learn who will receive the highest honours in movie making.  The official poster A quick search on the net educated me on what the academy awards is all about as well as the Oscars awards that are presented on that glamourous night. I remembered following the live telecast every year on TV, and it is a rather luxurious and fancy show. The most anticipated moment would be when the invited announcer reads the line "And the Oscar goes to...." Oscar Statuettes Upon further digging, I found out that they have already announced the Oscar nominations last week on January 25th. This is where the hype builds up until 27th February's climax. Going through the list, I realize I have watched some of the movies with nominated awards, but there are some I haven't even heard of, which brought me to reality, that I was n...

Celcom Sim Card Failure

Image
How long does an average postpaid simcard, or any simcard for that matter lasts? A year, 5 years? I find it amusing that in recent years, I've faced multiple simcard failures. A total of 4 sim cards died on me, and 3 of it weren't even mine, but of my supplementary lines. I'm using Celcom Postpaid by the way. Sim card #1 - (Main number) Died on me after 2 years of usage in 2010. Sim card #2 - (1st supplementary number) Died on my dad after 8 months of usage in 2010. Sim card #3 - (2nd supplementary number) Died after 6 months of usage in 2010. Sim card # 4 - (Main number) Died on me after 5 months of usage in 2011. All the time these simcards were housed in their respective phones. In my case, it never left my iPhone. So how does it just die off? Ok, maybe I might have used my iPhone too extensively, but how do you explain the other 2 cases. My dad rarely uses his phone, and the majority of his calls were from family members. My dead Celcom simcard Due to this, I had...

The New Honda Civic 1.8S-L Spec

Image
One of my colleague who is also one of my "lunch kaki", Lee KH just got himself a new car, a white Honda Civic 1.8S-L. I was told the L was for luxury. First off, I didn't know civic came out with a luxury version, so I went on the web digging about the differences between the standard 1.8S and 1.8S-L. I'll share the differences further down this post.  Anyway, since it was the second day my colleague got his car, and the first day he drove it to work, the gang got to sit in a new car to our lunch spot today. My first impression of his car was that it has dark leather seats, most of the Civics I've been in rarely have this 2 tone leather seat. Also since it is the L version, modulo body kit was included, which looks good on a white civic I would say. White Honda Civic 1.8S-L Printed i-Vtec 1.8S-L The price of this car retails at RM 119980, an increase of RM 5k from the 1.8S spec which retails for RM 114980. The extras that come with the increased price a...

Changing To A New Blog Domain

Image
Well, after using my blogspot.com domain for like a month plus, my fingers were itching for something new to play with. It was then that I decided to search up the net on how to change my domain name to something simpler and easier to remember. I changed my domain the simple way, by just going into blogger dashboard, and choosing settings - publishing. You can obtain your new domain there. Have a look below. My new domain. Yay! Of course, to obtain the new domain is easy and fairly cheap, around 10 dollars for 1 year subscription. The hard part comes when we need to link our posts, or transfer all the data. Luckily blogger.com automates this process for us, and the only thing I need to worry about is how to get my new url listed in Google again.

Is Facebook Shutting Down?

Image
I actually snickered when I read all the blog posts mentioning that Facebook is shutting down. Won't that be great, all of us would have so much more free time on our hands that we could think of more ways to cause anarchy to our already messed up world. The exact date Facebook is to be shutdown was quoted to be on March 15 2011. A few smiles later, I  then decided to check out the popularity of this on google. Guess what I found, in google trends, this sentence "Is Facebook Shutting Down?" is rated as Volcanic! Hot, definately hot news. Volcanic hotness But seriously, I doubt the validity of this news. Come on, the site has more than half a billion of active users, and from what I read Facebook recently just got a $500 Million dollar investment from Goldman Sachs (A full-service global investment banking and securities firm). Anyway, it's good fun, and to add to this fun, I decided to add my two cents and contributed to more postings on the topic "Is Fa...

Renewing My Jaya Jusco Membership Card

Image
It's already 2011, and I forgot to renew my Jusco membership card end of last year. It was more of laziness to renew rather than forgetfulness. Anyway, I knew I had to get it renewed asap if not I would have to start paying my carpark fees. Jaya Jusco card members get free parking at all Jaya Jusco outlets, which was the main reason I'm getting the card. Oh, the other perks would be points collection, extra discount on member's day, and various discounts on some branded items. All card renewals have to be done at their specific counters. Lucky for me it was fairly empty, and my turn came up pretty fast, no long queues. Jusco Customer Service Centre The service dude did a quick check on my account and found that I burnt 500 points last year because those points expired in Dec 2010. Ouch. Anyway I still had 5000 points, so I used up 1500points to exchange for the yearly renewal fees for the card. (RM12) Card renewal counter I learnt that Jusco no longer sends update...

Marriage Forms Submission At Thean Hou Temple

Image
Remember last week on 27th Dec? Well, on that day I submitted my forms for approval at the JPN , That was the first phase towards getting my marriage certificate. On Dec 30th, I managed to complete phase 2: Form submission and to book the ROM (Registration of marriage) date. We chose Thean Hou Temple to be the place to register due to it being a beautiful temple and the fact that we could take lots of pictures for remembrance. We reached the temple around 3pm after lunch. It was a fairly simple process of submitting the completed forms together with the photocopied ICs and birth certificates. The area for registration was self contained, everything was available there, from the florists to the wedding accessories shops. Thean Hou Temple Just outside the registration hall Thean Hou Temple Registration Office We chose the date to register our marriage on the spot. The date was still available. However, we weren't the first couple to choose the date, in fact we were th...

My iPhone New Look

Image
It's the new year, instead of getting a new phone, I've gotten my phone a new cover. Got it a few weeks back, and the pictures were lingering around in my PC which I just realized early this morning. Since I had the time today, I've decided to post up the pictures to be posted and published here. Bright Orange Got the cover for a rather cheap price from Lowyat Plaza at RM 12, I guess you could get covers like this for RM10, but I did not mind the extra RM2 because I really liked the colour. Bright orange, bright enough to be eaten. The cover is more of a snap on casing which was both easy to put on as well as taken off. The casing clips perfectly without any squeaks. Getting into the mood for orangeness, I even searched for a background image online to match the cover. Have a look below. Matching background image The view from the back. Cutout of apple logo is visible. On a side note, ever since iPhone 4 was launched, I've been finding it rather difficult to ...

Happy New Year 2011 !!

Image
As we countdown the last remaining hours of year 2010, let us spend some time to reflect on the happenings of the past year.  Did we achieve what we set out to accomplish? Were there more failures than successes? How did the year turn out? Time doesn't just fly, time flies with supersonic speeds. To me time is like a supersonic fast jet, and we are her passengers, all sitting inside zooming off towards the Never Neverland. So how are you going to spend the new year? With family, friends and loved ones? That is usually the case for everyone. The usual celebration spots to watch fireworks would be at KLCC as well as Bukit Bintang area. Some will spend it doing BBQ at their homes with friends. As for me, I will be spending it with my loved one. If I were back at my hometown Penang, I would be counting down with my family. On a side note, was at Leisure Mall Cheras this afternoon, and realize it's 31st today and saw there were so many people queuing up to buy Baskin Robbins ...

2011 Calendars With Motivational Captions

Image
TGIF, Thank god it's Friday! Friday has always been one of my favourite days because it signifies the end of a long hard week at work, and the time for rest has finally arrived. It's the time of the year again, where free calendars, and diaries are given out by the company or suppliers of the company. Today I received my second free complimentary 2011 calendar. I jokingly commented, "Hey! More stuff to clutter up my work desk with". But seriously calendars are very practical items to be given. How else would we know when to take leaves for holidays? My first complimentary 2011 calendar had the title "Racing Horse" gracing it's cover. Probably the person that gave it thinks it will be good luck for winning the lottery. Racing Horse Calendar The calendar that caught my attention was the second one. According to the Santa that gave the calendar, this particular calendar has a Fengshui theme to it, hence the title on the cover wrote "Waterfall...
