Newly opened in the bustling township of Puchong, KLC English Language Centre had their Grand Opening last Sunday and I was there with the kids to soak in the festivities. A place for children aged 3 to 14 years to master the English language, it’s definitely a good place for the boys to start strengthening their command of the language. Read on below on what transpired that day, as well as a first hand look at the centre.

First Look Inside KLC English Language Centre

Upon arrival at the centre in the heart of Puchong, we were greeted by the warm and friendly staffs of KLC. At the waiting lounge, there are comfy sofas, and even this very large LEGO table for the kids. Both Martin and Karlson immediately took to building LEGO blocks with other children there while the parents went around checking out the place.

Offering Free Class Assessments

Since they are pretty new in the neighbourhood, I took the opportunity to snap up the free class assessments for the day. Martin was assessed, and immediately went for the 1st class as we were rather excited to see what KLC had to offer.

The centre itself have a total of 3 rooms for classes to take place. Love the concept, especially the part where there’s a maximum of only 4 students per class session, and the teachers there are definitely very friendly. Each session lasts 45 minutes, a very good time if you ask me. You can choose to have your child attend classes 1-3 times a week, which I personally took the once a week one. Of course, if you go for 3 times a week for 45 minutes each session, your child will improve by leaps and bounds.

A little about KLC

Established since 2009 as a preschool, they are set up initially in Johore, with the Puchong brand being rather new in comparison. Currently their focus is on the two main services, namely Preschool and the Language Centre. KLC provides various programs; Silver, Gold, Platinum programs, Master Key Program and Treasure Box Program. The type of program that will be presented to each parent-child may differ because it is all depends on the ability of the child. Hence the importance of having the initial assessment.

Master Key Program

Tailored for pupils aged 3-14 years old, the Master Key Program is where the children are taught to read intuitively without memorizing vocabulary and advance their reading ability and critical thinking. 

Treasure Box Program

A more cool sounding program name, the Treasure Box Program is a comprehensive English Cambridge program for YLE examination, which covers the essential components of the English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading & writing. Pretty cool, this includes grammar, vocabulary and comprehension.

Orton-Gillingham Method

New to me, I was made to understand that KLC Language Centre develops their own programs and follows this Orton-Gillingham Method. Whats that? Go Google it. :) I like the fact that at KLC, each class is limited to only 4 students. This means they get the close attention required for them to improve, with learning efficiency of up to 6 times faster than normal reading methods.
