Wonton & Pho @ Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur
Wonton and Pho? The first thing that came to my mind was that it's a marriage of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine in one restaurant. I wasn't too far off from the truth, as when I entered Wonton & Pho @ Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur, I found out they serve both Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, which are delectable to say the least. The pricing is pretty decent, so do check out what we had that afternoon.

Comfy environment to dine in |
Wonton & Pho serves up some really good Wonton, home made Chinese dumplings wrapped with minced meat and prawns. Their signature dishes include the Vietnamese staple, Pho as well. That's how the name Wonton & Pho came about, with their menu offering Chinese delights, and Vietnames delicacies, all in one page.
Wonton - Chinese Dishes
Handmade wonton, their specialty |
Char Siew Wonton Mee - RM8.90 (small), RM9.90 (Medium) , RM10.90 (Large) |
Must try Wonton |
One of the signature and must-try dish at Wonton & Pho would be their Char Siew Wonton Mee, with that perfect springy egg noodles doused in their special sauce. This dish is delicious, with the noodles being springy and light, without being too oily. Lovely dish to kick off our afternoon at the restaurant. The char siew is good as well, having the correct amount of sweetness to it.
Hometown Curry Chicken - RM15 |
Have it with rice and you're good to go! |
So fragrant, the Hometown Curry Chicken comes highly recommended as well. The aromatic curry is filled with generous amounts of chicken and potatoes, good to have with the wonton mee, with white rice and egg, or even by itself. You must try it if you're going for their Chinese cuisine portion of their menu.
Marinated Pork Belly with Rice - RM17.90 |
Cha Ko To Claypot Fish Rice - RM14.90 |
My favourite dish at Wonton & Pho that afternoon would be the rather 'fatty' Marinated Pork Belly with Rice dish. The pork belly tasted heavenly, done just the way I like it. The dish comes with rice so it's definitely going to fill you up. The Claypot Fish Rice was rather good as well, albeit a tad oily.
Pho - Vietnamese Cuisine
Cha Gio (Deep Fried Spring Roll, RM7.80) |
Goi Cuon (Vietnamese Spring Roll RM7.80) |
Dig into some delectable Vietnamese snacks, in the form of the Cha Gio (Deep Fried Spring Roll), and the Goi Cuon (Vietnamese Spring Roll). The chef for the Vietnamese cuisine hails from Vietnam, so you can be sure the dishes here are authentic.
Bun Cha Gio - RM11.90 |
Now here's an interesting dish, the Bun Cha Gio which comes in a rather large bowl of vermicelli, minced pork, deep fried spring roll, lots of crushed peanuts, basil leaves and mint leaves. Don't jump straight into the dish, as it comes with some tantalising sauce to spruce up the flavours of this Vietnamese delight. Not bad at all.
Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodle) - RM12.90 |
Lots of beefy goodness comes in the next dish, the Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodle). I was told the noodles were placed outside, to be immersed into the piping hot soup before being savoured. The soup was filled with beef slices, meatballs, bean sprouts, cilantro and basil leaves. Pretty big serving for it's price.
Cafe Phin - RM7.90 |
Don't forget to order Wonton & Pho's Vietnamese Specialty Coffee when you're dining there. The Cafe Phin is nice, with lots of coffee flavours to wake you up any time of the day. So, the next time you're in the vicinity, don't forget to drop by Wonton & Pho at Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur for a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese signature cuisine.
