I won an AWARD!

So there I was at the Award Ceremony for Pemandu Berhemah Ops Selamat 9/2016 by our respected Polis Diraja Malaysia recently. Held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, it was held at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) and being attended by our high ranking police officers. So why was I there? Well, to receive the "Pemandu Berhemah" or Prudent Rider award of course! Read on.

Ops Selamat 9/2016 

First off, some background info is in order. Let's talk about PDRM's Ops Selamat 9/16 shall we? For starters, the Ops Selamat 9/2016 was an initiative by PDRM to educate the road users of road safety and ensuring traffic is well and smooth. This involves reducing the accident rates from 29th June 2016 till 13th July 2016. Other than focusing solely on the road, the campaign focuses too on house break-in cases during the festival season.

Our award, where we received plaques and a cert, together with Ben Ashaari. 

It was a successful campaign, one which saw a reduction in accident rates, as well as an overall sense of responsibility from the road users. I for one am a rather obedient rider, riding on my small CC bike occasionally fetching the wife to work, and to my events. I've been riding the bike since I was 16, that's 19 years of experience, if you can call it that. It was with great happiness then when I was picked to receive the award for being this year's recipient of Pemandu Berhemah (motorcycle category). Happiness is me.

The Experience

Arriving at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) for the first time in my life, I was really impressed with how well maintained the whole place was. The ceremony was held at the middle section of the terminal, where I got to see high ranking police officers with various badges and pips on their shirt and shoulders. For a moment, I felt overwhelmed by the men in blue, as there were just so many of them!

We were quickly ushered to our seats to wait out the ceremony which after seeing the arrival of all the top brass, we sang the "Negaraku" and proceeded to wait for our names to be called. I was seated with the other award winners, from various other categories, from cars to buses. In fact during the ceremony, there were awards being given out for best Contingent, and even best District. Happy policemen equals a good day.

I even got a short mention in our local Chinese newspaper that same week

So there you have it, my best experience ever with the men in blue.
