Cafe Olle @ Desa Sri Hartamas
Part of my #CafeHoppingMalaysia project brought me to another part of town, this time over at Desa Sri Hartamas where we got to check out Cafe Olle Sri Hartamas. Now this quaint little cafe is run by a very friendly Korean man, serving freshly brewed coffee (roasted in-house), a whole range of coffee and lattes, healthy sandwiches, pastas and many more dishes.

Olle, it got its name from Olle. It´s the local Jeju dialect word for "a narrow pathway that is connected from street to the front gate of a house.
Nicely lit exterior of Cafe Olle |
The interior and decor gives out a homely warm feel |
Arriving at Cafe Olle after work the other day, I was initially apprehensive due to the traffic at the area. Fortunately we found a spot nearby, and walked up to the brightly lit cafe. My initial thoughts were that the cafe really had a very homely presence with lots of wooden furniture and decor with yellow lighting. I would think it'll make a good cafe to chill and hang out after a long day at work.
Grilled Chicken and Cheese Sandwich - RM11 |
Beef Salami & Cheese Sandwich - RM11 |
Cafe Olle serves some really healthy sandwiches. By healthy I mean it had nearly zero oil, with taste akin to that of Subway but with less heavy sauces. Shown above were two of their signature sandwiches, the Grilled Chicken & Cheese and Beef Salami & Cheese Sandwich. I did notice they added the cheese in for that extra oomph and texture. Other than that it was meat and lots of vegetables.
Classic Ham & Cheese Sandwich - RM10 |
The sandwiches came with different loafs of bread, from honey oats to the normal loafs. Lightly toasted for that crispy effect, I rather like the Classic Ham & Cheese Sandwich. Probably I'm a no frills guy, the the no frills sandwiches here hit a note with my tastebuds.
Spaghetti Meatball Marinara - RM14 |
Vegetarian Pasta with fresh Italian Herbs |
On top of the healthy sandwiches, Cafe Olle also served rather good pastas. We were served with two different pastas that night, the Spaghetti Meatball Marinara and the Vegetarian Pasta with fresh Italian Herbs. Now I'm a meat person, hence I appreciate the chunky meatballs that came with the marinara dish. The beef meatball were really good, tasty with a meaty taste. The vegetarian pasta came with eggplants and italian herbs served with parmigiano cheese.
Signature Brunch - RM15 (Served from 9am to 8.30pm) |
A brunch menu set that goes from 9am all the way to 8.30pm? Yes please, who knows, some diner might be working the night shift and waking up in the evenings looking for brunch. The Cafe Olle Signature Brunch set itself had a generous portion of Omega3 omelette, with the accompanying steamed chicken sausage, chef's fresh fruit yogurt, cherry tomatoes and wheat bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Good enough for someone with an appetite for eggs, sausages and bread.
Affogato - RM12 |
What is a cafe without good coffee, and here at Cafe Olle we were served with some of the nicer home roasted coffee as well as single origin coffee. I was more interested with the Affogato shown above, as I had a thing for sweet stuff to go with my coffee. The vanilla gelato went really well with the shot of hot espresso. The very pretty plate it was presented with gives it extra points.
Cafe latte, comes with a choice of Mocha, Hazelnut, Caramel or Vanilla |
Pretty latte art in our cafe lattes. |
One of the more popular coffee types nowadays would be cafe latte, and that was exactly what we had that evening. The baristas at Cafe Olle did a pretty good job whipping up our latte, complete with beautiful latte art. I must say they're pretty skilful. We were spoilt for choice for the latte flavours, where we got to choose from their mocha, hazelnut, caramel and vanilla lattes.
Red Eye - RM12 |
An interesting mix of brewed coffee with an espresso shot, and you get Cafe Olle's Red Eye. The story was that this blend of coffee was thought up after observing former pilots who worked through the night ending up with bloodshot eyes, and need a cup of coffee. Cool story, and my, this is some pretty strong coffee, proceed only if you can take strong coffee.
Tea - ranges from RM8 and RM9 |
Cafe Olle don't just serve a wide range of coffee, they do have some rather decent tea as well. Serving a whole variety of tea ranging from pure green tea, rice punch, citron tea, earlgrey tea, to darjeeling and camomille tea and more, you can definately get your tea fix here.
Black & White Cheesecake - RM10 |
Nut Cheese Cake - RM10 |
The Black & White Cheesecake and Nut Cheese Cake served here went very well with their coffee. The cheese itself inside the cake wasn't overbearing, being only a single thick layer in the middle, sandwiched by fluffy tasty cake. I do like the creaminess of the cheese inside though, but I'm very much a cheese person. I especially like the Nut Cheese Cake, as I'm nuts over these crunchy nuts.
Good stuff, and the perfect end to a pleasant coffee night out with friends. Do drop by Cafe Olle at Desa Sri Hartamas should you be in the vicinity. They are open up until midnight, closed on Monday.
Ahhhh!!! Sandwiches! I like! The pasta & meatballs too. Yum! Yum! Not too keen on that brunch platter though - I think I can come out with better. Just one sausage, chicken some more...and I prefer mine pan-grilled, slightly scorched on the sides.
ReplyDeletegosh.... soooo tempting.. and the prices are pretty reasonable... great reason to check it out
