This year, the second day of Hari Raya coincides with Malaysia's Independence Day, or better known as Hari Merdeka. Hence the term this year "Merdeka Raya" to refer the joint celebration. Selamat Hari Raya to all those celebrating, and happy holidays to the rest. Since I did take a few photographs of the chinese new year decoration 1st Avenue Mall had put up at their centre court, I'll share it here before the photographs gets lost somewhere in one of my external hard drives.   View from the 2nd floor As usual the theme was red, auspicious red, with lanterns hanging. During my last trip back to Penang last christmas, I did a post on 1st Avenue Mall. The post can be found here ( 1st Avenue Mall Penang ) That time, the mall was fairly new and it's TGV cinema wasn't opened yet. Well, today I was at 1st Avenue, and the 8th floor was packed with people getting ready to watch their movies there. This meant TGV cinema at 1st Avenue Mall was already opened and ready for business.  TGV Cinema at 1st Avenue Mall I find the new TGV cinema at 1st Avenue very interesting and rather different from the other cinemas. What's so special about this place? Well for starters, there is a rather c omfortable lounge area for movie goers to relax and just sit down to watch trailers of movies. There's a new mall in town! I haven't been back to Penang for the past two months, and they spring this surprise on me. It's a nice surprise though, yet another hangout place to use up our precious money and time away. It's all good!. Outside view photo taken off the net. From the news, I've got to know 1st Avenue just opened last month on 25th November 2010. The mall is bounded by Magazine Road, Carnarvon Street, Tek Soon Street and Cross Street. On Christmas day, my family and I decided drop by this spanking new mall. The carpark of 1st avenue is similar to it's neighbor mall Prangin Mall, as in it's located 5, 6, and 7th floor of the complex. To reach it, I had to go through spiral driveways up. Everything smells and feels new, from the car park freshly painted walls and floors, to the lifts and escalators.The lift is unique in a sense that the lift doors are made out of transparent glass.
