Valentine’s Day Set Menu @ Tapas Bistro & Bar, MiCasa All Suite Hotel

Did you know this year’s Valentine’s day happens nearly the same time as our Chinese New Year, on the 10th day of CNY to be exact. Have you prepared for it? I was over at MiCasa All Suite Hotel the other evening, to savour their Valentine’s Day Set Menu @ Tapas Bistro & Bar. I must say, for the food that is in the set, the pricing isn’t really too exorbitant, in fact it’s pretty reasonable. Read on below.

Valentine’s Day Set Menu

Valentine’s day, perfect for two, the pricing for the set menu is set at RM299 nett for 2, which comes out to less than RM150 per pax. Pretty okay considering we get oysters, salmon tartare, a choice of halibut or wagyu with foie gras and dessert. Let’s begin shall we?

1st Course - Fresh Oysters with Nobu Sauce

The first course for Tapas Bistro & Bar’s Valentine set menu is the Fresh Oysters with Nobu Sauce. Now I’m not too keen on oysters, but the partner totally loved it, as it’s served fresh, going really well with the Nobu Sauce. You get two huge pieces of fresh oysters, a great start to the meal.

2nd Course - Salmon Tartare with Avocado and Mango

Up next on the menu, we were served with the Salmon Tartare with Avocado and Mango. Another refreshing starter dish, the fresh salmon tartare has a zesty flavour to it thanks to the mango element. Unlike your usual starters, here the serving size is not the really “mini” ones. Great! The avocado added a creamy taste to the dish.

3rd Course - Asparagus and Spinach Soup

Soup, a meal would not be complete with some hot soup. The Asparagus and Spinach Soup was indeed flavourful, tasty without being too salty. I like how the asparagus and spinach blended well together without being too overpowering. It almost tasted like chicken soup with vegetables blended in, savoury and flavourful.

Bring fourth the Mains!

You will get a choice of either the Pan fried Halibut Fish and Scallop or the Grilled Wagyu Eye Round and Foei Gras. Since you’re with the partner, why not take both, which was exactly what we did.

The Pan fried Halibut Fish and Scallop is good, with a really large serving of the fish. If you’re not filled by the 3rd course, this main dish will definitely fill you up! The fish was done just nice, soft and tender, with a crispy crust on top. Love how the side garnishing brought out the taste of the Halibut fish.

Grilled Wagyu Eye Round and Foei Gras

My kind of meal will always have some form of steak or beef. No prizes for guessing which mains I went for, the Grilled Wagyu Eye Round and Foei Gras of course! I was a tad disappointed with the foes gras as it did not come out the way I’m used to tasting elsewhere. But the Grilled Wagyu Eye Round was good! It was well done, not my perfect choice of wellness as I would have gone for medium rare. Anyway, served with herb Potatoes, Asparagus and Grilled Vegetables on the side, this made for a good dish.

We ended our “Valentine’s” night by the pool over at MiCasa All Suite Hotel with some dessert in the form of the Creme Brûlée. If it had been served hot inside it would have been perfect. Instead, the ones served here was of the chilled version. Overall, no complains, so if you have not made your Valentine’s Day dinner plans yet, do consider dining over at MiCasa All Suite Hotel.
