Well, the other day I was at ECurve again to catch this premiere screening of "
Hoodwinked Too" and decided to get some dinner. So there I was walking along The Curve trying to find something to bite and noticed Sakae Sushi Japanese Restaurant was packed. On further scrutiny, I found they are having this buy 1 free 1 promotion for handrolls and red colored plates for Citibank credit card holders.

While waiting for my turn to get seated, yours truly was intrigued with the decor. The mascot for Sakae Sushi Japanese Restaurant is this cute green frog, and pictures of the cute guy was everywhere! They even had a corner to buy plush toys. Check it out below.

Upon getting our seats, we proceeded to order immediately. Priority was on red colored plates and handrolls of course. We must make full use of the promotion! One thing that caught my interest was the ordering system. We have a monitor on every table t choose and select our orders from the screen itself, which was pretty effective if you ask me.

Again we have mr Froggy! |
However the same could not be said of the food quality and the service from the waitress. I had to wait for a very very long time (more than 20minutes) for my food to be served, and I noticed the quality of the handroll was very bad, imagine the cucumber wasn't even sliced in strips. It was just haphazardly cut out and stuffed into the handroll. It was rather disappointing. Anyway do check out the dishes we ordered that night.

Chicken Teriyaki Rice - RM 10.90 |
 |
Soft Shell Crab, buy 1 free 1 - RM5.90 each |
 |
Chawan Mushi - RM 4.50 |
 |
The green tea was charged - RM2 |
 |
California Roll - RM 3.90 |
 |
Prawn Tempura Handroll - RM5.90 |
I'm not sure why, probably due to the massive crowd, or the fact that it was buy 1 free 1 that night, but the food quality went down the drain, especially the food presentation. Anyway, Chicken Teriyaki rice with its generous portions of chicken pieces drowned in teriyaki sauce!
