It was a grand opening for the latest restaurant to open in One City, USJ. The Cellar Signature at One City, in collaboration with VCT Group of Wineries Asia was officially launched by H.E Rodrigo Perez, Ambassador of Chile to Malaysia. I was there, and it was a great launch event, where they launched the Provinage, the First New World Wine Club in Malaysia. Read on below.

The latest wine bar and restaurant in the vicinity of Subang Jaya, The Cellar Signature One City USJ serves really good western cuisine paired and complemented with New World Wines. The Cellar Signature is also the Viña Concha Y Toro’s first official outlet in Asia. The logo is really intriguing, showcased throughout the restaurant, some in neon lighting.

Viña Concha y Toro


Founded in 1883, Viña Concha y Toro has become the largest wine company in Latin America. It is the fifth company in the world in terms of traded volume, and second in area of planted grapevines. It currently has more than 10,800 hectares of vineyards in Chile, Argentina and the United States. Its wine portfolio includes icons Don Melchor and Almaviva, and its emblematic Casillero del Diablo brand, as well as Trivento wines from Argentina, and Fetzer and Bonterra from California.

What is the Provinage?


Now this is new to me, I learnt during the grand opening of The Cellar Signature that Provinage is a movement to raise the awareness of New World Wine that has been under-rated by the Old World Wine in Malaysia. So how’s your knowledge on Old World Wine versus New World Wine? Through the Provinage, we’ll get to understand and appreciate the New World Wine while socialising with like-minded folks.

Let the Feast Begin! 


Our feasting started soon after the grand launch, with delicious food prepared by Chef Kenny Chin, the head chef of The Cellar Signature, One City. The menu listing had delectable noms ranging from Cream of Trio Wild Mushroom Soup , Volcano Stone Grilled Sirlon, Sous Vide Proscuitto-wrapped Chicken Roulade and many more choices, all perfect to be paired with New World Wine.  Our four course lunch that afternoon was good, really good!

We kicked off our meal at The Cellar Signature with their entree, the Sautéed Shrimp with Watermelon. Such a refreshing and unique starter, I really liked this dish as the shrimps were really fresh. The cold watermelon complemented the warm shrimps very well. Good start.

Mains


For our mains, we had two dishes, both of which were really good. First up, the Chicken Roulade with Spinach Stuffing & Herbs came on a really large platter. Together they made for a tasty, filling treat for the stomach. The chicken was really juicy and tender, taken with the accompanied wine, perfect!

Ah! My favourite that afternoon, the Char-Grilled Ribeye served with Beet Root Puree & Roasted Herbs Potatoes was served next, in a heap of goodness as we were sharing it. Good stuff, I could not get enough of it! Of course, make sure to request for medium or medium rare when you’re here, as it would be so much better! Lovely indeed, going well with their wine.

Dessert


Chocolate lava cake, who can resist such yums. We had these for dessert, and it was good indeed. Oh, that wasn’t the only dessert served, we tried out their creme brûlée as well. Awesome sweet stuff!

From what I heard, on September 2018, Provinage will be organizing the first New World Wine Expo in One City USJ supported by the Embassy of Chile and Chilean Trade Commission in Malaysia, so do not miss out guys!
