Nam Heong Restaurant’s I-Waitress Robots Are Here!

Nam Heong Restaurant’s I-Waitress Robots Are Here!

The future is here! Machines are here, albeit a tad rudiment, they are here to stay. Being served by a robot waitress has always been something we thought would happen, but being in a Chinese restaurant? Now that’s new. Nam Heong Restaurant introduced their very own i-Waitress Robots to us the other day, where we could basically order our food via their iPads, and wait for it to be served automatically to our table by these non-humans. Intrigued yet? Read on then.

My first impression of Nam Heong’s i-Waitress Robots are that they are really striking, in red and white, clean cut, and with beautiful names, named after famous Asian celebrities, it’s a sight for sore eyes. Lovely indeed, we had these i-waitresses named Dilraba Dilmurat, Hannah Quinlivan, Michelle Reis, Fan Bingbing, and Angelababy.

How Do the i-Waitress Robots Work?

Programmed with simple greetings, “welcome”, “your food is served, please enjoy”, “Excuse me”, and a couple more phrases in both Cantonese and English languages, these unique i-Waitress Robots “walks” along a designated track from the front to each table.

Thank you for the awesome service!

In Chinese, these robot i-waitreses are called “Nui San Bong” which literally means Goddess Gang, a term used to describe a group of beautiful celebrities. Don’t hesitate to take selfies and wefies with them, just like what I did. Of course, make sure you do not hinder these i-waitress robots from doing their job!

Step by step to receive your food from i-Waitress Robots:
Step 1 : A 3-step away distance is the best way for “Nui San” to serve you better.
Step 2 : Collect your food once “Nui San” arrived at your table.
Step 3 : Do remember to press the exit button on “Nui San” arms once food is collected.

Did you know?

There’s a total of 10 robots which were purchased by Nam Heong to place at their outlets, 8 at their Ipoh Soho outlet while the other 2 (Zhang Ziyi and Cecilia Liu Shi Shi) is assigned to “work” at Nam Heong Damen Mall. These two were the ones I met the other day when I dined at their outlet in Damen Mall.

What happens when you block the paths of these i-Waitress Robots?

Interestingly, that was one of the questions that came to my mind when I saw these robots. I mean, during peak hours, there are bound to be guests walking everywhere. No problem there, as each of Nam Heong’s i-Waitress Robots come with sensors which will enable them to stop when there are obstacles blocking. So no worries there guys!

Food at Nam Heong Restaurant is GOOD!

With a rich 60 years of history, Nam Heong does serve good food, from dim sums to local flavours from Ipoh’s culinary heritage. In fact, even before the introduction of their I-Waitress robots, Nam Heong restaurants have already started utilising the iPads to place order, very convenient indeed!
