Autosaver Automotive Service Centre @ Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur

Chinese New Year is only a week away. Have you serviced your car for the long journey back to your hometown yet? I've been servicing my ride at the Kia service centre all this while, but this time around, for my 100,000km service, based on recommendations from fellow car club members and friends, I decided to try out Autosaver Automotive Service Centre. Check out my review of their service and parts changed from my visit last week below.

Established in 2009, Autosaver started out as a general car service and repair workshop. Due to intense competition and dynamism of the automotive industry, mindset changes were essential to bring about a new workshop image for the future. Auto Saver did exactly all these and emerge a success with unanimous support from various motor clubs in Malaysia.

Now the cool thing about servicing your vehicle at Autosaver is the fact that they service and change exactly the same interval and parts as you would at an authorised service centre, at a fraction of the cost. No doubt if your vehicle is still under the manufacturer warranty, it's still advisable to come here after your warranty period has lapse.

Quality after sales servicing for Japanese and Korean made cars at a reasonable price is the key word here. Starting off as a general car service and repair workshop in Singapore, today it targets the servicing of new cars within the first three years of purchase. All three Autosaver branches in the Klang Valley has expertise to service Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan and Kia cars. They have won over a rather loyal following with their policy of "follow the owner's manual", customizing the service to follow exactly the manufacturer's specifications.

Now according to my Kia manufacturer servicing chart, at my 100,000km service I would require a change of oil filter, oil drain plug, and air filter along with the change of the oil. As I have taken along my own fully synthetic Castrol oil, Autosaver charged me for labour only at RM78. Now, I skipped changing my spark plug the last 90,000 km service hence I took the opportunity to change it here as well where the original Kia spark plugs are priced at RM60, cheaper than what you would get at the Kia service centre.

The mechanics at Autosaver were pretty thorough in their checks, where they actually go all over your car checking for worn out parts. It so happened my 2 year plus car have not had its brake pads replaced yet, and I know for a fact the front brakes were thinning already. They changed it with OEM brake pads costing RM119 for 2 front sides.  The 'botak' brake pads were spotted by the mechanics along with a loose vibrating rack end under my car.

My Kia Forte had its stabilizer links replaced before which solved a major problem I had where there were "klok klok" sounds emitting from the front of my car. It's not until I changed this faulty rack end (cost: RM90 x2 ) that I felt my car became more stable when passing irregular roads and bumps. Gone were the jerky and vibrating feel, just a solid drive thanks to Autosaver for pin-pointing and solving the root cause.

The detail of service that Autosaver gives to each customers went beyond the call of duty, where you actually feel satisfied when their mechanics goes and check the minor details. One of it which I appreciate were the application of grease on all my door hinges and car battery connectors, filling up my wiper water compartment, on top of all the checks to ensure my car leaves the workshop in tip top condition.

Autosaver Malaysia's general manager, Mr Deric Teh, who was the previous owner and founder of Korean Carmates was actually at the Jalan Ipoh branch when I brought in my Kia Forte to be serviced. It was interesting chatting with him, to find out more on how Autosaver actually invested heavily in diagnostic tools, and also provide genuine parts and original manufacturer parts for customer choice.

Customers have the option of watching while their cars are being serviced or relaxing in an air conditioned room complete with magazines, comfy chairs and TV. Overall, I am very satisfied with my Kia Forte 100,000km service done by Autosaver Automotive Service Centre @ Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. Pricing: RM78 for the labor charge for servicing, RM60 for the spark plugs, RM90x2 for two rack ends, and RM119 for the front brake pads.

  1. So nice and clean. Most workshops are very dirty and they do not do a thorough job...plus no nice waiting room. Wish we had one like this here.

    1. Suituapui, yup, it's really quite clean :) Really none like these at Sibu? Here in KL maybe the competition tougher, have to give more effort and extra services.
