The Mix New Menu @ Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie

It has been a while since my last visit to The Mix at Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie (The Mix Holiday Inn Glenmarie Valentine's Day Set), more than a year back, discounting the CNY meal (Phoenix Chinese Restaurant @ Holiday Inn Glenmarie CNY 2014 Set Menu).  They recently changed some items in their menu, where I was invited to sample some of their new offerings. Check out below for my review on their dishes.

Shown on the first picture above would be my favourite dish of the night. Interestingly it is given the name Ryu. The cod fish looked every part as delicious as it tasted. Served with shitake, eryngii mushroom, boiled potatoes and vegetables, this is a must have at The Mix. I've always loved cod fishes, and if done correctly like what The Mix has done, it flakes easily with the touch of the cutlery, and literally melts in your mouth.

#2 Stuffed Mushroom - RM25
#2 Stuffed Mushroom - RM25

Served as an appetizer, The Mix prepared the Stuffed Mushroom with cream cheese, cannellini beans, with walnuts and olive on the sides. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of stuffed mushrooms, deep fried mushrooms where it's soft and tasty inside yes, but not stuffed mushrooms. The taste was what you would expect from mushrooms stuffed with cheese, and beans. I liked the walnut flavour though.

#3 Coconut Chicken Strip - RM15

#4 Greek Panzanella - RM25
#4 Greek Panzanella - RM25

I love anything deep fried, hence my overweight figure at the moment. The Coconut Chicken Strip which was served with accompanying honey soya dipping was the perfect way to start any meal at The Mix. Deep fried, then coated with coconut 'crumbs', the chicken meat was tender and had that succulent texture to it. A quick dip into the sweet sourish sauce, and I just had to have more. Of course, if you are more health conscious then go for their salad, the Greek panzanella, with generous amounts of tomatoes, cucumber, green onion, fresh basil and bread.

#5 Balsamic Glazed Beef Short Ribs - RM50
#5 Balsamic Glazed Beef Short Ribs - RM50

The moment the Balsamic Glazed Beef Short Ribs were served in front of me, I knew I had to have some of it immediately. Served with butter braised garlic, onions, zucchini and beans, the meat itself was what made the dish great. It had this sweet glaze on top, with tender 'fall off the bone' short ribs. I would recommend this dish for any meat lover.

#6 Beef Nagimaki - RM25
#6 Beef Nagimaki - RM25

Another meat dish. one which doubles up as an appetizer as well, the Beef Nagimaki was a unique dish. The description states it as a japanese beef roll with dashi soya sauce, but I feel it is akin to a beef roll with sweet teriyaki sauce. It had these asparagus sticking out, giving that green dash of colour to an otherwise whole chunk of meat. Good stuff.

#7 Lemon Grass Lamb - RM45
#7 Lemon Grass Lamb - RM45

Another good lamb dish, the Lemon Grass Lamb dish was served next. It came with brown rice and pumpkin curry on the side, unique yet not as appetizing to me as the huge lamb pieces in the middle. I found the lamb a tad too tough and salty for my liking, but the lemon grass herb did give it that extra flavour and sweetness.

#8 Osso Buco Style Lamb Shanks - RM50
#8 Osso Buco Style Lamb Shanks - RM50

It was literally an overdose of lamb for us that night, but the Osso Buco Style Lamb Shanks was indeed a feast for the eyes and stomach. Served with shallot risotto, spinach and arugula, the lamb shank is one huge piece of tender and soft lamb meat. I couldn't take in too much as I preferred my lamb being a bit tougher in texture.

#9 Poblano Pesto - RM35
#9 Poblano Pesto - RM35

The Poblano Pesto had a healthy mix of linguine pasta with spicy pesto, frish fritters, pepitas and garlic. It was tasty, with a heavy garlic and spicy flavour. The spiciness was just right for me, but a tad too much for some of my fellow foodies.

#10 Jivara Indulgence - RM30
#10 Jivara Indulgence - RM30

We ended an awesome night out at The Mix Holiday Inn with some sweet dessert in the form of their Jivara Indulgence. It was basically chocolate fudge sponge 'cake', layered with salty crusty bites and topped with milk chocolate peanut cream mousse. Do drop by The Mix should you be in the vicinity of Glenmarie Shah Alam, as they do serve some really yummy food there.
