Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant @ Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall

Just the other day, I was at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall where I took note of their latest 'World Of Cravings' campaign running from 1-30th April 2014, with exclusive promotions on their various food outlets. That evening, I took the opportunity to dine over at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant for some of that yummy German sausages and more. Read on for my review on their food below.

Brotzeit as I was told is a fond Bavarian expression - "Brot" being German for bread and "Zeit" for time - referring to a small meal or snack accompanied by beer. The servings here were rather large to be regarded as a small meal though, with its contemporary decor, casual ambiance, and amiable staff who are always read to offer us the perfect recommendations.

What we had that evening were part of promotional items which can be found in Sunway Pyramid's Mobile App with exciting deals. Aptly named, the 'Tap, Eat, Save' promotion, remember to download the Sunway Pyramid Mobile App via Google Play or the Apps Store, and you should be able to find everything below, and more!

#1 Mozzarella Salad - RM26 (small), RM42 (large)
#1 Mozzarella Salad - RM26 (small), RM42 (large)

We were first served with an opening appetizer dish in the form of this rather colourful assortment named the Brotzeit's Mozzarella Salad. The salad had mixed salad greens with mozzarella, vine-ripened and semi-dried tomatoes, grilled zucchini, olives, and garlic croutons, tossed with house dressing. We had the rather large serving, and I must say, this salad is meant to be shared, as it seemed impossible to finish on one's accord. I do like the mozzarella cheese thrown in which went really well with the garlic croutons in the house dressing which is both tangy yet refreshing in taste. A fitting opening dish indeed.

#2 Sausage Plate: Knoblauchwurst (Pork Garlic Sausages) - RM36 and Bockwurst (Smoked Pork Sausages) - RM34
#2 Sausage Plate: Knoblauchwurst (Pork Garlic Sausages) - RM36 and Bockwurst (Smoked Pork Sausages) - RM34

Up next had to be my favourite dish for the night, one which I love coming back to Brotzeit for, their German sausages. The Knoblauchwurst (Pork Garlic Sausages) and Bockwurst (Smoked Pork Sausages) came in one plate, aptly called the Sausage plate. They are normally served separately though, but it was nice to see two pairs of yummy sausages in one platter ready to be chomped on.

The Knoblauchwurst (Pork Garlic Sausages) were essentially smoked pork garlic sausages served with roasted potatoes and sauerkraut. One unique thing about these sausages were the taut skin they were wrapped in, which were crunchy to the bite. One bite into this, and I could taste the garlic flavoured soft sausage meat under that 'wrapping'. Good stuff. As for the Bockwurst (Smoked Pork Sausages), they were served in similar fashion, without the garlic flavour, but tasted equally great! I could not get enough of it that evening.

#3 Brotzeitflade Bayern (Ham Pizza) - RM32
#3 Brotzeitflade Bayern (Ham Pizza) - RM32

Ah, it was an overdose of meat and ham that night, with the Brotzeitflade Bayern (Ham Pizza) coming in this rather large platter. Did I mention most dishes at Brotzeit should be shared, for the sake of our tummy. The ham pizza, made with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese (yes more of this!), belly bacon, leg ham, green and red bell peppers, cocktail onions and mushroom, when served piping hot is delicious. The cheese literally flowed when pulled towards the mouth. I like the fact that it was thin and crispy without being too doughy, with an explosion of sweet, savoury flavour when munched upon.

#4 Pork and Bacon Burger - RM28
#4 Pork and Bacon Burger - RM28

Sinful and tempting, Brotzeit's Pork and Bacon Burger is made of a rather large piece of juicy homemade pork pattie on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes topped with strips of bacon in between a lightly toasted bun. Served with shoe string fries, you know your diet plans have crashed for the day the moment this arrives in front of you. As much as I love the savoury and juicy beef patty, I must say I love the strips of bacon even more!

#5 Bauern Cordon - RM38

After all that rich food, you must forgive me when I was less enthusiastic about the Bauern Cordon which look a tad too dry when it arrived in front of me. The breaded escalope of pork is stuffed with bacon, onions, mushrooms, parsley, and melted cheese served with a choice of side dish, in our case some wedges. However a quick cut into the meat and the delicious ingredients from inside the meat came flowing out, and everything became bright and sunny again.

#7 Sweet & Savoury Duo - RM25
#6 Sweet & Savoury Duo - RM25

We ended the meal with some rather nice desserts in the form of the Sweet & Savoury Duo as well as the Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel). Now, have you tried chocolate coated bacon before? Well, here you have two crispy chocolate coated bacon and white chocolate mousse with lemon pepper marinated strawberries served with sweet apricot sauce. The taste is really unique to me, bitter and sweet from the chocolate, with a slight saltiness coming from the crispy bacon.

More sweetness delights came in the form of Brotzeit's Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel), the traditional homemade apple strudel filled with cinnamon and lemon flavoured sliced apples, chopped walnuts, rum and raisins served with vanilla ice cream. Oh, how I love the ice cream..

  4. Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for rookie blog writers? I’d really appreciate it. Bed Sheets
