It was a night of glitz and fashion, as the exclusive fashion design Bran et Daguet held their 'Secret Rendezvous' fashion show at Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang. Now I'm not exactly the most fashion conscious person around, but I do know how to appreciate good fashion pieces. If fashion could ever be described succinctly by words, I do think it would include words like sophistication, subliminal, and sensual.

Held at one of the very classy heritage luxury hotels in Penang, Brandon Tan, creative director of Bran et Daguet, brought to us his latest fashion show, Secret Rendezvous. Secret Rendezvous is Bran et Daguet's latest fashion show in demonstrating their vision for the 2014 Spring and Summer collection.

"Secret Rendezvous is about distilling the essence of fashion into simple elements that are prominent and outstanding in their own righteous ways. The show incorporates exotic materials and edgy silhouettes that complement each other very naturally. This is just a glimpse of what's to come in 2014, much more is in the pipeline for everybody's enjoyment" Brandon Tan described.

The evening of the event began as guests were welcomed at the reception for photo opportunities with Brandon in from of a backdrop simply labelled Secret Rendezvous by Bran et Daguet. As the sun set, and night progressed on, the guests were ushered into the Heritage Wing of E&O Hotel for the commencement of the show.

Featuring glamourous models, its unique interpretation breaks away from the traditional catwalk, the fashion show delivers new experiences as it was about the couture pieces. Accompanied by Brandon's innovative vision for pushing boundaries, his collection brought new elements that challenge the conventional, such as experimental silhouettes, and cuts of dresses that accentuate the already exotic materials employed.

The format of the fashion segment was nothing short of a spectacle to behold, from the ambience of the hall, the unorthodox runway that circled the atrium, to the manually articulating lift that transported models up and down, the show provided its audience an appreciation of creativity with every passing dress.

|It wasn't all about the evening gowns, with unique offerings being showcased as well|
The fashion show saw Kelly Jagan, Ford Supermodel 2009, open and close the show adorning Brandon's signature sequin-laced evening gown, reminiscent of Cheongsams of centuries past but with contemporary motives that blend seamlessly into one functional yet aesthetic piece.

A total of twenty pieces were showcased at Bran et Daguet's Secret Rendezvous. With a variety of silhouettes and fabrics, it was a varied selection indeed. I for one am amazed and the different dresses that they could showcase under one theme. Notable evening gowns included a back slit, beige top, hand stitched with sequin, an A-line black wool dress with 3D beads, styled to juxtapose a full black velvet off-shoulder evening gown.
