Meet Fresh Taiwanese Dessert Pavilion KL

It has been a while since my last dessert review. Taiwanese desserts have been really popular lately, not exactly my favourite, but I will never turn down a nice bowl of sweet iced dessert. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to catch a high tea session over at Meet Fresh Taiwanese Dessert Pavilion KL with some of their VIPs and founders.

As part of Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs’ (MOEA) effort in reaching out to neighbouring countries, its Bureau of Foreign Trade jointly with “Meet Fresh” invited members of the media for a high tea session at the latter’s outlet in Pavilion KL. The high tea enabled the guests to have an authentic taste of Taiwan’s delicacies and other wholesome treats.

Established in 2007 with millions invested to create a six-star comfortable dining experience for its patrons, “Meet Fresh” is a Taiwanese dessert chain that prides itself on preserving the authentic taste of yesteryears when food was handmade by the sellers and ingredients were of the highest quality and fresh.

Arriving at Meet Fresh Pavilion KL on a Sunday afternoon, I thought it was a great idea to come for this event, as the dessert would help greatly to quench our thirst on a hot afternoon. Meet Fresh served us their four signature bestseller desserts, namely the Taro Balls Dessert 4, Meet Fresh Signature Herbal Jelly, Peanuts Tofu Pudding, and Winter Melon Tea with Mini Taro Balls.

Taro Balls Dessert 4
#1 Taro Balls Dessert 4

Now even though I don't have taiwanese desserts every other day, but I do appreciate the lovely taro balls, especially when it is served with other sweet delights. The Taro Balls Desserts 4 came looking real pretty with four different flavours. We had these taro balls which were soft, and chewy, just the way I like. It was a tad bit unfortunate that the sweetness level was too low, which may be healthy, but I love my desserts sweet!

To quench our thirst while we were sitting through the press conference where Malaysia Meet Fresh director, Mr Danny Lim gave his speech, we were treated to their Winter Melon Tea with Mini Taro Balls. I like this drink, as it was refreshing, with enough sweetness to keep me drinking until I got to those small taro balls. I do recommend this drink for those looking for a refreshing drink.

Served next was Meet Fresh's signature Herbal Jelly or better known as "guai lin gao". To fully enjoy this dessert, we were given a small cup of fresh cold milk, which I poured happily all over the herbal jelly. Again, it would have been much better had there been more sugar in this dessert. I would think most Malaysians love their desserts sweet, and serving a "healthy" less sugar dessert just doesn't quite hit the taste buds.

#4 Peanuts Tofu Pudding
#4 Peanuts Tofu Pudding

Meet Fresh's Peanuts Tofu Pudding had generous amounts of peanuts together with ample ice for that cooling taste. The tofu pudding was made from selected soy beans, giving out that rich soy bean taste on top of that "peanuty" flavour. Overall, the Meet Fresh outlet at Pavilion KL had an ideal location on the top floor, hence the healthy crowd.

There are six “Meet Fresh” outlets in Malaysia, with four outlets located in Kuala Lumpur in Pavilion KL, Berjaya Times Square, Laman Rimbunan Kepong and Bandar Mahkota Cheras and one each in Penang ,Gurney Paragon Mall and Negeri Sembilan , Uptown Avenue Seremban 2. For more information, please visit its website at www.meetfresh.com.my

Fans who “LIKE” its Facebook page “Meet Fresh Malaysia” today  and show it to the outlets’ personnel will receive a RM2 cash voucher to be used for any dessert purchase. So if you happen to be anywhere near “Meet Fresh” outlets, do not miss this opportunity.
