Lingham's Chilli Sauce Convoy Campaign Launch @ Publika

Lingham's Chilli Sauce, now this is one brand name that have been around and easily recognized as a household brand for good sauce. Used in various dishes, I have had my fair taste of this fine sauce. In fact I even have one bottle of it at home now, mum loves it. Today, Lingham's Chilli Sauce launched its latest campaign at Publika by unveiling Lingham's branded cars that will travel nationwide to engage the public and spread awareness of its brand.

The exquisite flavour of Lingham’s Chilli Sauce stems from a secret and traditional recipe which has been preserved over the years. Its ingredients continue to be red chilli, sugar, vinegar and salt. It contains no preservatives, colouring matter, artificial flavours or bulking material like tomato puree.

The present day flagship product, Lingham’s Chilli Sauce, was first manufactured in 1908 during the British Colonial era. It is a common contention that, once you have tasted Lingham’s Chilli Sauce, you would not want any other chilli sauce. In the USA, Lingham’s Chilli Sauce is known as Lingham’s Hot Sauce.

Seven branded cars, in this case it was the Volkswagen Beetle, were revealed to the public at today's launch. The vehicles will be part of a 24 cars entourage that Lingham's will deploy in Malaysia to spread brand awareness this year. Interesting concept, one which could actually be of big influence judging from the brightly coloured cars and logos used.

Speaking at the launch was the Managing Director of Lingham & Son (M) Sdn Bhd, Mr Yeoh Jin Beng, it was a rather detailed and interesting speech. The convoy campaign was officially launched by Mr Yeoh together with a display of the initial cars. Check out an excerpt of the speech below.

"The convoy will further strengthen our brand that has been around for 105 years. Lingham's is well-known in 20 over countries and it is a great way to let Malaysians know that we plan to be around for much longer by engaging them through our convoy. All the cars are painted in Lingham's trademark colour, bright yellow together with our logo"

Personally I've been involved with some car club convoys before, and I must say it does have an impact of the people who we come across during the convoy. Driving out in a huge group with Lingham's Chilli Sauce logo is bound to turn more than a few heads if you asked me.

The plan for the convoy is to drive to parts of Klang Valley where there are heavy traffic to take advantage of the huge number of onlookers and drivers. Also in the pipeline are plans to convoy to neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Thailand as well.

A short brief on Lingham's history is in order, so brace yourself for a short history lesson. Lingham's was born in 1908 when it was started by an Indian national of the same name in Penang. The business was later sold to a Chinese family in 1945 after the Second World War and after a number of changes, the present company Lingham & Son (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1971. So there you have it, that's how our favourite sauce came about to become one of the leading chilli sauce manufacturers in the country.

We were treated to some nice brunch immediately after the launch at Ben's Publika, which went pretty well with the palette especially when added with the signature Lingham's Chilli Sauce. Did you know on top of the original recipe, Lingham's sauces now come in the Garlic, Ginger, Ginger Garlic, Thai and Sriracha variant. These new variants also use 100% red chillies and natural ingredients and are Halal, Kosher and Vegetarian Society certified.
