Snow White And The Huntsman (2012) Movie Review

Snow White and the Huntsman is the 2012 re-iteration of the classic movie, this time with a slight twist and lots of beautiful people. I had the opportunity to catch the premiere screening of this movie tonight along with other friends courtesy of ChurpChurp and Nuffnang

Before I actually caught this movie on the big screen, I had already watched the trailer and frankly speaking, it didn't really catch my attention except for the beautiful evil Queen Ravenna. In fact I had to admit she was the attraction rather than the main character Snow White herself. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the good and vote for Snow White, but the sultry queen does leave an impression.

Look at her above, and tell me I'm wrong. Anyway, I reached the cinema way earlier than expected which as a good thing as I could grab a bite before the show started. It was always a good thing to attend screenings such as this as I could catch up with some of the bloggers which I've not seen for a while.

Coming back to the movie, it actually ran close to two hours which could have been fun if it wasn't a tad too draggy. Anyway the plot was pretty simple, we have Snow White (Kristen Stewart) who like in the fairytale was locked up for years after her step-mother the queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) killed her father and took over the throne putting the whole nation into an age of darkness.

Queen Ravenna, who had this really sexy sultry look had been draining the essence of young women in order to maintain her youthfulness through the years. There was even the classic magic mirror which she consults to see who's the "fairest of them all". Unfortunately, the fact hit her sooner than later that her beauty was to be surpassed by Snow White and all hell breaks loose.

One of our heroes the huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth) with Snow White

One thing led to another, our Snow White escapes the castle, teams up with various heroes namely the huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth), her childhood buddy Prince William (Sam Claflin) and the seven dwarves, just like the fairy tale. I won't be disclosing the ending here, but place no expectations, and the movie may be okay for you.

Hey, here's our hero with the dwarves!

Overall, the story started off well, with anticipation on what's going to happen next. Then suddenly everything fell into place easily, too easily actually. Everything moves along so perfectly, that was when it starts getting very predictable. We had scenes of castles, and medieval times which was good and all, until suddenly a huge giant troll was added in making it look like middle age from Lord of The Rings. Personally, I will only give this movie a 4/10, not from the mediocre acting, but more of the storyline and plot. I still love Queen Ravenna though.
