Bak Kut Teh Klang Yip Yong At Kepong

On the same day that a bunch of us bloggers went for our Desa Parkcity Fun Photography Outing, we adjourned to have some really good dried Bak Kut Teh at Kepong. Recommended by Jackie Loi for it's really tasty and nice dried bak kut teh, we headed to Bak Kut Teh Klang Yip Yong in Aman Puri, Kepong in a convoy of 5 cars.

The shop is just like any coffeeshop you will find serving Bak Kut Teh's but what's important is the taste of their dishes. All 9 of us manage to secure the largest table in the restaurant, all eager and hungry as it was already close to 2pm that time.

We tried out both the "wet" soupy Bak Kut Teh dish as well as the "dry" spicy one. Nothing to shout about for the Bak Kut Teh soup, but the dry spicy Bak Kut Teh rocked our socks off. Check out below on some photos I managed to snap of our delicious lunch that afternoon.

#3 "Eu Char Kuey", forgive me for not knowing its English name equivalent, to be dipped into the soup

#5 Our "Dried" Bak Kut Teh, which was both spicy and really tasteful.
I do have to comment on the Dried Bak Kut Teh that we had. The meat were cooked together with bits of cuttlefish, dried chillis, with lots of black sauce. On its own, it gets rather salty, but coupled with the "oil" rice, the fragrance and taste is just awesome. Even after the meat was gone, we could still dig into the bottom of the bowl for cuttlefish bits and continue munching away!

Overall a very filling meal indeed, enough to fill all the big boys that were there that afternoon, and 1 lady. The price came up to about RM16 per person, which I feel was pretty reasonable. I really do recommend trying out the dried Bak Kut Teh here should you happen to drop by Kepong area.

  5. Cuttlefish bits in their dry bkt sounds like a promising dry bkt. Many of the ones I have tasted is just dried chilly and onions at the bast of the pot.

How is the soup? Herbal or meaty?

  6. looks good, but i actually meant the traditional one.. not into those dried BKT, because if i ever go for BKT it's for the soup~~ :D

  7. Tried the dry one, not really into it. Prefer the soup herbal bkt... Maybe the one I had was not so nice, this probably nicer...I wouldn't know.

  10. Twilight,
oh! I haven't actually heard of dried bkt until recently too! But it tastes good bro.

    Evelyn,
the soup taste normal, as I was told this shop is good with its dry bah kut teh, but does not excel in the soup. Doesn't taste too bad though.

    SK,
true also, but we can always try the dried one for a change XD

  11. Suituapui,
This one would be nicer! because of the cuttlefish inside! :)

    Merryn,
I guess the traditional way is still everyone's favourite, but once in a while go for a change is good too. hehe

    Bananaz,
Thats what we did, go in a group so can taste both! :) thanks for dropping a comment here bananaz!

The BKT served in Yip Yong Aman Puri is nothing to shout about...the soup & dry version is just normal. It is a family run business. Their staff's (which is their own family members) attitude & service is horrible. They are rude !!!! The first staff came over and threw the basket with tea on the table. Soon the next staff came without saying excuse me, snatch the basket away when we are selecting the tea. Next thing you know even before you take your spoon and chop stick, they just came and take it away....whats wrong with them? the whole restaurant is short with tea & utensils? until the staff is so efficient at taking everything away...even there is not many customer that night since is raining... Overall is a negative experience dining here. To be frank there are other BKT restaurant around that serves better BKT. Highly not recommended !!!
