Sakae Sushi Sunway Pyramid

Sakae Sushi, the cooler and some people say better version of Sushi King. To me both these franchise are very similar, with Sakae Sushi having a slighter edge in terms of the environment and food quality. My last visit to Sakae Sushi was at its branch in The Curve. Anyway the other day, I was at Sunway Pyramid with Janice when we decided to grab a quick bite over at its Sakae Sushi Japanese Restaurant.

The first thing that caught my eye at this outlet was the ordering system. From my past dining experience at Sakae Sushi, I've learnt that their menu is displayed on a monitor, and we could use a mouse to click our orders real time. Here in Sunway Pyramid, their Sakae Sushi outlet utilize the latest iPads to order the meal. It was pretty cool being able to touch the screen to order and all.

A few touches, and swipes on the iPad and we were done with the orders. The system was so easy that one would have to practice some self-control or risk ordering too much food! The photos displayed on the iPad screen had really vibrant colours tempting us to order more. Anyway check out our meal that night.

#1 Teriyaki Chicken with Rice - RM18.90

#2 Japanese noodles (can't remember the name though)

#4 Bite sized sushi

#5 Kani Mayo (crabstick with fish roe)

#6 My favourite Soft Shell Crab Handroll - RM5.90 each

So there you have it, it doesn't look like much but at the end of the meal, both Janice and I were stuffed. In fact, I got nagged for ordering too much. The dishes served tasted better than the ones they have at Sushi King. I liked the seaweed used to wrap virtually every handroll and sushi here, as it was really crispy unlike the soggy ones I have had elsewhere. The bill at the end of the meal however set me back by RM61, which to me was rather pricey. Anyway I guess once in a while it's okay to indulge in some nice Japanese food.

  13. Hello brother Tan!
Sakae Sushi is definitely better and the higher price is worthwhile.

  14. SK,
Pretty cool gimmick if you ask me. And it's quite efficient too. Don't need to have the waitress come over to take the orders. Cut down on ordering time, and the meal comes faster.

    Hilda,
Oh, why doesn't the boyfie like it? Is it because of the frog? :P But of course comparing Sakae Sushi with the typical japanese restaurants, Sakae Sushi is a fast food outlet in a sense.

    STP,
LOL, good investment eh! Too many good investment also can make me broke. :P

    AdamTan,
The prices are slightly pricier than Sushi King. However the taste is much better, rather than Sushi King which have the "machine made" taste to me.

  15. Nikel,
Hehe, Sakae Sushi is very nice in my opinion.

    Claire,
you should try it out! But bear in mind Sakae Sushi is the fast food outlet equivalent of a typical Japanese Restaurant, so don't expect too much out of it. :)

    Wenn,
Hey, we have the same taste! I love that Teriyaki Chicken to bits!!

    Tony,
Haha, that's why we are bloggers. We can crap about almost anything and everything under the sun. Actually I'm writing on all these outlets to build my Food category. Need more posts like this. Hehe.

    Twilight Tan,
Brother Tan!! Are we united yet? LOL!
True, but I won't go too often though. Still cannot come to terms with the price. Haha
