Valentine's Day Flowers At Petaling Street

Buying flowers on Valentine's day? Are you out of your mind? Don't you know they charge double on this day? Well, those were the questions that came to my mind when I decided to get a hand bouquet today. And why despite knowing that I have to pay double for the flowers, do I still continue on my quest to get it? It's my ROM (Registration of marriage) day tomorrow, and I need a hand bouquet for my bride to be.

So there I was walking down Petaling Street hunting for a hand bouquet. They sell cheaper flowers there as compared to other parts of KL. Even then, I knew I was going to get slaughtered by the florists.

The whole stretch of roads were filled with florists, selling a whole variety of flowers. As expected the prices were doubled. When I asked about marriage hand bouquets, I was quoted prices which surprised me, I did not know then that marriage hand bouquets were different from normal flower bouquets. These little buggers (marriage hand bouquets) were supposedly tougher to make, and consists of more flowers within a smaller package.

Today's crowd was unbelievable. And I thought with the recent hoo haa over Valentine's Day over the media, less people would be celebrating it. I was wrong, people from all races and walks of life were seen walking into the stalls buying all types of flowers and bouquets.

Finally after walking around and surveying the stalls around, decided on a hand bouquet of roses. Promptly paid a small deposit for it, then  had a walk around petaling street while waiting for the florist to prepare it. Managed to capture 2 pictures of Petaling Street, one of which was this famous drink stall where we had this famous "Mata Kucing" drink, or better known as Longan drink, and another of the Petaling Street Signage. Have a look below.

The longan drink was a welcome treat in the hot weather, costing RM1.50 with ice, and RM2 without. The drink itself was actually a bit too sweet for my liking, but I guess that's what made it nice.

I reached home in the late afternoon feeling really sweaty and tired, but happy knowing I got my mission completed. Another item checked off. Have a look below for the hand bouquet I got.

  15. Congrats on your ROM.
Indeed, one needs to be willing to be slaughtered by florists when buying flowers on Valentine's Day.
However, this is the only time florists can have higher profit margin due to their stock ie. flowers & leaves are perishable.
Spending some money in exchange for a pretty bride is worth it, right?
